JK, that was tried at Eastbourne and was met with a barrarge of abuse. I believe most of those were simply having a go at EFM not the issue at hand.

yeah I think thats the problem here , people see it as an EFM issue. when it quite clearly isnt...

how do we ALL get around that?, not sure

stil if l i feel it needs to be said .ie "castle out" then i will say it.....*
and if anyone disagree with me me about this, more than happy to hear your side of view...

Earlier in this thread, Laz suggested a meeting of "representatives of various groups".

What 'groups' Laz?

There is a strength of feeling on this board, in the clubhouse and in the ground concerning a number of isssues. Why not suggest to the Committee of the Supporters Club that a 'Supporters Meeting' should be called to which ALL Saintsfan should be invited for a general discussion.

What will that achieve? Well, hopefully, a cross-section of opinions will be registered by the Committee who can take those views to the Board of the Club. There will not be unanimity but as Laz said somewhere else, I suspect that 80% of the fans will agree on 80% of the issues.

In addition, such a meeting could be a step towards unity on the terraces.

For my part, I do not think that the current issues can wait until the next Supporters Club AGM in May 2005.

Factions may be a better word, an obvious one would be EFM, but there are plenty of other groups that discuss this issues. Tavs and co, for example, the supporters club committee, the list is endless. My main point was to get a reasonable cross section of supporters but to keep numbers managable for a meeting.

I'm not sure the supporters club committee would want to be seen to be organising such a meeting. I've heard mutterings of discontent from them that's all. We need someone to take the initiative. Any suggestions?

Laz. I have spoken to most if not all, members of the Committee of the Supporters Club, casually, over the last few weeks. They are Saintsfans, and like the rest of us, are concerned at the results and issues on and off the green bit. They, too, recognise that divisions on the terraces do nothing to assist.

The Supporters Club and it's Committee is an 'official' body in the sense that it has far more weight than a disparate group of fans. In particular The Chairman attends Board meetings of the club to present a report which should, in my view, include the views, differing if appropriate, of the supporters that he represents.

The first clause of the Supporters Club Constitution reads:

"The purpose of the club is to provide support for St Albans City Football Club and its supporters...."

Hi Gertcha.

Whatever the strength of feeling, the attitude "he/she/they did or did not do something last week/month/year" should not be the primary thought when approaching an 'Open Forum/Supporters Meeting'.

Surely, all involved have to put various matters behind us if we are to move forward?

I agree that it is a good step forward and it would be good for everyone to sit together and as Laz said I think you would find 80% of the people agree on 80% of the issues.

However, for it to be a success the Chairman would also need to buy into this and from reading his programme notes I don't think that is likely to happen at this moment in time.

It's often difficult to judge responses on here.

Although there is silence from a good number of recent contributors, there is no-one objecting to the idea of a meeting. I will have a word with that Chairman of the Supporters Club chap.

I'll report back when I have spoken to The Bearded One.

Can have the meeting in a pub somewhere?

May as well have some fun too!

As I see it, in our present plight, it is clearly the only way forward and I would definitely attend. I just find it a little off-putting when people continually drag up events from the past. It is history and is not helping to solve anything. The club is in one unholy mess and it is getting worse by the day. If we are going to try and change things, we need to be strong and all work together as one single unit. If these factions, or whatever you want to call them, continue we have no chance.
