NO Towners Chainsaw Massacred @ Town Show

The Enfield Town Show opening today was delayed after heavily armed Police were called to arrest a chainsaw carver who appear not a happy chappy about something.

 

ETFC was due to have a pitch alongside the carving demonstration but chose to move - (wisely as it turns out). Those of us who had been previously watching his art were grateful we hadn't stuck around at our original pitch but were unaware of the extent of the drama unfolding until after it was over and those shut outside the ground told us what had transpired.

 

It is one of those glad to still be alive days!

On a serious note. ETFC was represented at the Town Show by a dedicated bunch(11 in total) of individuals who looked after the football target game from 10.30am - 5.30pm.

 

The day got off to a cracker with the police in evidence and this had nothing to do with our Society Secretary giving a first class interview on Radio Enfield.

 

The game consisted of young people and old trying to score against some wooden targets. Looks easy, but difficult to do!

 

During the day we had the benefit of the Mayor of Enfield trying his luck as well as a host of children, some 236, winning a lollipop and a free pass to any ESL league game. We were lucky to have 5 children who scored three times out of a possible five, and they each won a football.

 

Four Jets were signed up, three new society members and a whole host of leaflets distributed during the day.

 

Lovely weather, good company and surrounded by the Police and the Navy. Couldn't have wished for a better day.

Andy what is it with you and men in Uniform?

 

I know they were more attractive than the Carnival queens. One passed us and we though it was an eclipse of the sun.

Didn't stick around to find out. Wisest move I've ever made even if I do say so myself! Now Foggy would have tackled him and Nora would have hit him with her umbrella not that it would have done much good. Might have made him laugh though.

Arrested and probably telling his story somewhere today at a guess? Who knows? - Read the local paper I'm sure it will be reported.
