There was a time when all the players were a lot older than me ....... !!!! Not true now. Bring back John Ridout - he was the same age as me!!!

.....and presumably still is?

Trivia corner: when Enfield lost 1-0 to Yeovil in the cup in 1979, one of the Yeovil centre halves was Steve Harmison's dad! True.

I had supported EFC since the sixties however whatever support I had for the club disappeared as they tried to rip off the paying customers at Haringey Borough. Their first game of the season against Hemel Hempstead, they had no ground, no form and yet believed that they could charge people £7 for this non-event.

At that stage I considered that the club was in the hands of money grabbing tightwads who deserved everything that they got and had no thought for their supporters.

It was on that day that I became a Towner to the heart and no longer an "E".

Was it you who watched the game from up a ladder in the nearby allotments?

Hello steph.I did chuckle at your post. I too have met the enfield f c commitee whilst I was helping out at kingstonian a couple of years back,I recollect some Brazen 40 something gobby woman, her poor downtrodden husband, some little skinny chap with glasses,a guy with a digi camera, his sweet munching daughter,2 or 3 roly poly fella's,some old guy with serious halitosis problems, and a teenage girl who was a chain smoker. But best of all was the manager the bald headed fella (cant recall his name)He was so full of cr-p it fell out of his gob every time he opened it. But I must say I went to borehamwood at the end of last season (arlesy game)and thay are a completely different set of nice people .thanks to steve mark pete and alan for making me feel welcome. so maybe they do deserve a fair trial at enfield, and not get slated for the strange goings on of the previous regime.
