Maidenhead vs. Margate

Firefly

Their keeper gifted us two goals in the second half. The first, at 2-1 down, was when he took an air kick at a back pass. Che ran on and passed into the net.

Then he failed to gather a ball on the ground. Again, Che followed up to score into an empty net.

The fourth was a header from Baptiste. Trego saved a penalty near the end! Overall he didn't look too bad.

Our best goal was Rocky's in the first half. Cut in from the left and blasted low past their keeper.

50 Gate fans behind the goal in the second half out of 261 crowd.

Brilliant game, after a shaky start, Che and Rocky had a brace each, great support from the fans too, haven't heard so much noise since last year, brilliant to hear chanting again. I am sure it gives the lads a lift.

Che twice ran down the keeper and beat him, came close another couple of times, Rocky slammed one in and put a beautiful header in, came close a couple more times. We were all over them like a rash in the second half. Aaron came close too, Clarkey had a couple of shots on goal, Gradley looked likely as well and played ever so well today. In fact everyone did, we went two down but they did not drop their heads and got a well deserved win. Bill was sterling at the back, defence much tighter. Trego saved a pen! Splendid battling performance, can we have some more please sir?

Good hot dogs too.

Can someone who attended the match tell me if Rocky, apart from his two goals and near misses, seemed more interested in things. Please just HONEST replies and no BIASED ones.It may not be as silly a question as it sounds but I would like to say that my previous comments about him were entirely because of his seemingly lack of interest against weymouth. If his eagerness was there today then I would like to know and congratulate him and also put that one game down to something else that may have been troubling him.Congrats to Che also as he is now putting the goals away and with him, like others have been critical of him previously too. Well done both of them. And the rest of the team. Lets hope in our next home game these players maintain this form and give us a further 3 points. Good day guys and well done those that managed to get there and give their support both vocally and non vocally.

Yet another team who've added our useless inept keeper to their christmas card list. The local postie will get a hernia delivering them all!

Firstly, well done on bringing approx. 50 or so. Decent number.

Have to take issue with your 'vocal' support. You were extremely quiet and only made any noise at all when 4-2 up. And that's your BEST vocal in a while? Oh dear.

Secondly, there's no way you deserved the win today.

At 2-1 up we looked the more likely to extend our lead but coco-the-clown in goal handed you the initiative with 2 gaffes in 5 mins.

Despite what a couple of fans posted on our forum we're not a bad side. Just need a keeper who isn't a complete juggler and a ball winner as we're a bit powder-puff. We'll turn things around, you'll see.

We played the better football and you're dreaming if you think Aaron Barnett is any good. Slow, usless and very easy to wind up is my assessment. He was the same at Stortfort last season.

It seemed to me to be

Trego

Bill

Barnett Beckwith Annon

Oates Gradley Keister Clarke

Rocky Che

Shaky start but the defence held together very well after that. When we were pushing forward Annon came up further and this provided some much-needed service to Clarke and also into the box. Beckwith is a very good player, I hope we can extend his loan. Don't listen to the Maidenhead guy, Barnett was sound and nearly scored one of his wonderful headers, perhaps that's where the sour grapes came from. I have said it before and in the face of disagreement from forum pals will say it again now, Gradley is getting better every game and is much more commanding in midfield than at the start of the season and, if he keeps on like he is doing will become one of our stalwarts. He is also hungrily eyeing the goal and I think he will be on the scoresheet soon. Another good thing is that there was much more teamwork going on, rather than a bunch of quite talented individuals gathered together on a field. Rocky and Che have found their form, and feed off each other.

All in all, michaelmichael, I think you would have been reasonably satisfied.

Thanks for that-encouraging.

everyone's at it now-am i really that hard to please lol.

I'd would be quite content just to stay in this league for next season, but was seeing big dangers from pre -season that from playing angle that would not be achievable .(it still may be difficult due to off field matters but i'll let the politicians get on with that).

Like the line-up of the side and think that is currently our best team and lineup.

I think my early posts also said that whilst not in the Saunders mode, Gradley did have some potential and had positional sense -could be really good if he could find an extra yard of pace.

What was CK up to not playing Barnett in last two games-incredulous imo..

Seems like our conference strikers are now showing that type of form and experience.

If the defence-Annon, Bill, Oates (and Barnett who has conf. experience)can get back to that standard, then we should push top half position.Such a shame about Green.

Must be mad but planning to make the long (for me)trek to Ashford Tuesday night.

For the avoidance of doubt though, i would add that i still think we are desperate for an extra midfielder-not for JK's one match suspension; but for when he or others get 'properly' sent off and get 3 match suspensions , for the inevitable injuries, and to strengthen the squad sufficiently to maybe , just maybe, sneak a top 5 spot

How times have changed, Gate have played only 10 league games and there have been 41 goals, average over 4 a game! It took all three seasons in the conference to see that many!!

I realise that letting 13 in two games would hurt CK as much as anyone, he normally prides himself on his defence as a strong point and works forward from there.
