Questions to the Board?

Recommended Posts

I see that there has been a request to the Supporters Club committee members that they reveal what roles they carry out, whether they have free passes etc. I'm sure they'll make their own minds up whether they answer or not, but I'd have thought there are more important issues which need to be addressed to the Board of Directors and the Management/Coaching team!

As a Public Fans Forum appears unlikely to happen, as a suggestion perhaps one or two supporters could go round the ground on Saturday and ask our remaining Supporters what concerns they have about the current situation at the Club. Then these can be collated and then presented to John Gibson/Steve Castle and hopefully they will be professional enough to answer them in a future edition of the match programme.

After speaking to many people at the Carshalton game I was frankly dismayed at the level of disillusionment there is on the terraces at the moment. Crowds are the lowest level for over 20 years and getting lower week by week!

Chants against the board or the manager probably won't improve matters, perhaps the diplomatic route should be tried?

Those who have contributed to the current debate concerning the roles of the various members of t'Committee will have their own reasons for raising these matters, LS.

In my view, any Non League football club needs a healthy, active and well-supported Supporters Club which should be administered by a healthy, active and well-supported Committee. Selling raffle tickets on matchdays is very necessary but to me, in isolation, is no qualification for membership of the Committee itself.

Your own post suggests that "one or two supporters" should go round the ground talking to the remaining fans etc. and their concerns could then be presented to Gibbo. Supposing all 250 take your suggestion on board and ask those questions of each other. The crowd would seem larger in view of the movement, I imagine, but the Chairman would struggle to respond to 250 written presentations from the remaining fans.

Why, I wonder, didn't you suggest that members of the Committee of the Supporters Club should undertake that task? Or do you feel that their role should be limited to selling raffle tickets? Surely, representing the views of all fans is one of the fundamental roles of a member of the Committee.

That Chairman of The Supporters Club chap attends the first part of Board meetings in order to present a report. He is ideally placed to gather views from the terraces and his colleagues and the machinery is already in place for them to be presented to the Board.

Your suggestion of a response via the matchday programme is a good one in the apparent absense of a Fans Forum although one of the points that might be raised on the terraces is 'Who is responsible for the preparation of the matchday programme?'. Last season, those accredited with it in the thing are quick to deny it.

I know for a fact that a number of supporters have recently aired their concerns over various matters with Ian Rogers. Quite right too.
