building on allotments

Despite living in Brighton I still support Slough and go when I can. I know they need a new ground but why is it always soft touches that get earmarked for development. As someone with seven allotments I know how much hard work it is and how gutted i'd be if someone decided to build on it. There's so much empty ugly office space in the middle of Slough - knock some of that down and put the stadium in the middle of town, where football stadiums belong. Pie in the sky I know but hey we can dream (you have to if you're a slough supporter these days).

Oh and great, so Slough are in the northern section next season - instead of a quick trip to Worthing, Bognor or Lewes to support them my nearest tie is somewhere like beautiful Barking. Please make the league think again and save me a fortune on public transport.

To be fair Warren, the plans include relocating the allottments, not just removing them totally.

I know its not ideal but the club will die otherwise.

When you next coming back to Slough mate?

I am in the same boat as Warren ! Thought that i would get to see the Rebels more this Season ! And then they change it ! I disagree with Warren about the allotments though, having been living in Brighton he should know of the fiasco regarding Brightons attempt to build on a field near Falmer ! Suddenly the field becomes a ' site of natural beauty ' and they have been trying for 5 years to get a ground to replace the Goldstone ! I feel the allotment site would be great and all we need then is a new Manager !
