Eight games in and seven points to show for it. Must have played some good teams?

Sutton - won 2-1 - current position 19th

Welling - lost 2-5 - current position 22nd

Hayes - lost 0-1 - current position 9th

Stortford - lost 0-2 - current position 15th

Havant - drew 1-1 - current position 10th

Lewes - lost 2-3 - current position 5th (eh?)

Carshalton - won 3-1 - current position 20th

Eastbourne - lost 0-1 - current position 17th

Redbridge next, currently lying 21st. Lose that and we will be in the deep doo doo.

Lewes - current position 5th(eh?).

Rob, I think that tells you everything about the strength of this league and our position in it tells you the remainder.

There may be a lack of confidence, will and spirit, CS, I don't know. It is certainly none of the others that you mention. I would hazard a guess that you are not too far out with your previous sentence. One thing I do know is that I and several others travelled over 200 miles yesterday to see us turned over by the worst opposition side I have seen this season and it is just not good enough. Coupled with that, our indiscipline on the field had to be seen to be believed. We picked up yet another two bookings for dissent and also had a player sent off for elbowing an opponent in the face. It is inexcusable.

Once again we seem to only beat the teams that lie below us (with the exception of Welling) in Carshalton and Sutton.

Last season Castle beat Aylesbury (x2), Kingstonian, Northwood (x2), Braintree, Canvey, Heybridge and Bedford ......... fact about these teams - Every single one them bar Canvey (who had nothing to play for) were basically relegated.

That should tell you an awful lot about the man in charge

It is, indeed, very difficult to be positive, CS.

It's a very nice set-up at Eastbourne Borough. Lots of volunteers and a good atmosphere in their clubhouse. Decent programme. They had 5 points from 7 games at 3.00 on Saturday and the official attendance was 717 for the visit of the Mighty Saints. We took well under 100. 50/60 or so.

They are a dreadful side, playing dreadful football. A fierce wind blew down the ground which didn't help either team.

The lack of discipline should be of concern. I don't want to single out any one player but Lee Clarke picked up his third yellow card of the season on Saturday for dissent. Then the sending off was ridiculous. There was a throw-in right in front of the dug-outs and Boro made a substitution. They sent on a young striker who was a strange shape. He was built like a door with the exception of his arms which were like two sticks of celery.

Anyway. He immediately stood behind Dean Hooper and jostled him. No reaction so Mr Young Universe jostled him again just as the ball was to be thrown in. This time, Hooper saw red twice. First the mist that made him elbow the wannabe in the face, and then the card that the referee produced when the lino explained to him what all the fuss was about.

Quite ridiculous. Hooper has been around long enough at this, and a higher level of football to deal with the kid in the appropriate fashion. And that wasn't it.

We didn't get any luck on Saturday but then I am from the school that says you make your own luck, and the harder I work, the luckier I get. We were the only side trying to play football, and there was more passing from man to man than I have seen this season but we got nothing for it.

Incidentally. Chris Seeby was on the bench. No, he didn't 'fail' the trial for a month's loan at Mighty Harlow Town. I was told in the clubhouse that, the way the fixtures work, he would have played only once in the next month at Harlow, so they are waiting for a month to start when he will play 4 or 5 games. [it doesn't make any sense to me either, but then, I don't know anything about football.]

My new philosopy is taking a pounding.

What are you all talking about? God, are you mad? Getting rid of the manager won't help things! Give him more time. Get behind the team. Support the club. Give encouragement. The fact that Castle's proved himself to be completely inept, and we're going nowhere under him, doesn't matter. 39th worst manager we've ever had, out of 42?

What's the problem?
