Cheshunt 1-0 Slough

This game was a worse performance than at Staines.

Not one player played like they were intrested and the substertutions made no sense at all.

Every player needs to question their performance and ask themselves why was I crap.

Winky could not catch a could

Daley gave away a goal

Danish was not present

Murphy 1 ran out of steam after failing to make any passes

Wilko was poor by his standards

Carbon was probably the best of a bad bunch but still poor

Harris played the same as at Staines

Metcalf has inhereted crab features - sidways

Miller slow and inefective but did try to chase

Murphy 2 tried in the 1st half but dissappeared in the 2nd

Missing one thats how memerable he was.

The substitutions

Spencer for Miller

Nick G for Murphy 1

Radders if Eddie has to make substitutions let them make sense

Also was I the only one to notice a lack of direction from the bench this afternoon?

Serve with honour - there was no honour this afternoon

Well done Cheshunt at least you made the effort unlike Slough!

The ref was crap but in equal measures to both sides so no excuses there

Pull your finger out Slough!!!!

Right.unlucky for myself i cant make all the games

bu what i understand we had a bad game. This aint going to be the last one we hav so we have to get use to an up and down season at times.

By what i know we were missing alot of players and that what happens when you have a small squad!

some times you struggle when thin on the ground.

We are still hanging around with the top teams we are only 3 points behind second and we are tenth.

so stop being so bloody negative and know that most of us would have been happy with mid table by the end of the year.

so lets get over this and i see you lot at croydon next week.

See you midweek? Slough should be playing Eastleigh Tiesday at home.

Wasnt able to attend the game, but by now shouldnt we know what sloughs seasons are like. Normally we have bad games but do recover from them. Theres still along way to go.

Agreed with most of that SR.

I though Harris didn't make one decent pass today. He kept giving the ball away very time he got it. Metcalfe was non-existant, Whincup looked like he put grease on his gloves before the match and Carbon wasn't himself today either.

I hoped the team would have performed better or at least make more of an effort than on Tuesday. I was wrong.

Easy to say from a distance, but you didn't see the match.

Dire performance.Cheshunt were poor and we were worse.
After the 4-0 loss at Staines the team were still applauded off. Even though thew loss was 1-0 today there was no applause as they didn't deserve any.

The defence wasn't that bad (They weren't that good either), the attack had no service, and the midfield was a complete shambles.

Spencer is not a striker, but played there, instead of in midfield where his strength is. He could not possibly have been worse than those who did play in midfield. Their keeper had so little to do he had time to hand out sweets.

Yes, the referee was terrible but was not the reason we lost. I said after Staines that it was important how we reacted today but the reaction we got was just bloody awful. We were never at the races from the first minute although credit, alone, to Matt Miller who worked tirelessly in the first half after picking up a couple of knocks. In my view he was the only player to emerge with any credit.

Our away record is very poor and drastically needs to improve. With all due respect to Cheshunt I thought they were the weakest team we have played away and if we have any intention of doing well we must take points against teams who played as poorly as they did today. I'm sure they are better than that normally which makes the way we played even more disappointing as we failed to take advantage.

Please, though, can we just once this season have a defeat that doesn't descend into arguments amongst ourselves. It's no good us just being brilliant fans when we're winning, we need to show it on occasions when we lose too.

Will we move back to a more recognizable 4-4-2 formation? I don't think we've played well this season and considering our run last year came on the tried and tested 4-4-2, I hope we can at least give it a try.

Back to today though, and I don't think their keeper had a save of note to make throughout the entire match. Simply put, we're not creative enough. One of Metcalfe and Wilkinson needs to be dropped and replaced with a more creative player (Spencer?) to at least help us try and create something.

Agreed the ref didn't help today, but it was interesting to see at many points throughout the match how often players would lose the ball/have a pass intercepted and would be more interested in moaning about the pass than chasing the ball and winning it back (Miller excepted). No problems if the players are giving it their all and it doesn't happen, but that clearly didn't happen today.

Let's hope we continue our good home form on Tuesday night.

We're missing Hakki and Hodges sorely. Can't be helped, but it's very noticeable.

And Spencer!!

Last season we were doing well till he got injured. then had a poor spell till Hakki arrived.

Now Spencer is fit again he deserves the chance to play the creative role again, moreso as Hakki is out. He is however, not a striker, and playing him there is somewhat bizarre.

Agree Matt, Veli and Ian are vital to our performances

There was even the comment today that we should get crab back and not only for the song - has it got that bad?

Foghorn and Tom you were luck that you missed this game and saved £8 but we saw how bad it was and it was BAD

This is bound to be mentioned by others as well, but why bring Nick Gyoury as third sub to play a holding midfield role when Matt Seedal is twiddling his thumbs on the bench? Spencer is not a striker, and although Seedal has not set the world alight this season, going to three up front was surely the only option to try and get us back into the game. Unless Seedal was injured and just making up the numbers of course...

Matt the problem was they were all making up the numbers today!

There were better performances in the supporters game behind the goal before the match - Radders claimed he was man of the match although I thought Emma had a better physic than him!!!!

Whilst in sexist mode - highlight of the game was when they sent on their physio.

Totally bemused.

Shocking terrible woeful abject. Not a shot at goal much worse than Staines.

The majority decided not to clap the team off although some understandably responded when Eddie came over clapping.

I personally did nothing standing on my own texting the socre to the various people on my service.

Then some decided to boo the ref. Which I found slightly confusing. He was not at fault for the goal and he was not better or worse than any other ref we see at this level. To some the team are beyond reproach but they feel no problem in booing the ref. I reacted. Told the ref to ignore them.

I remember reading a poster at an away game last season about how refs are being hounded out of the game and with the current generation retiring we could soon reach crisis point and face the prospect of no grass roots football. I have listened to Big JR and his defence of the officials and I have taken the points on board. Sure I still slag them off when they make wrong decision but I genuinely felt that booing was overstepping the mark.

I then get told by Secretary Sliski (yet again) that I am a bad loser. Why for not booing the ref when the team were crap? My reaction was nothing today. But I was stood at the front clapping the team off on Tuesday and at Dover. Then to top it off another fan tells me to Fing shut up you fing [***!!***]. Nice.

Great that I have to do the match report for this one.

Lets start at the beginning - I WAS THE MAN OF THE MATCH IN THE SUPPORTERS MATCH!!!!!

Onto the game, why oh who oh spells YoYo but why were we so crap today? Well in my opinion there were many factors. Unlike some people I actually thought we played quite well in the first half. Michael Murphy had two very good efforts, Daly had two headers cleared off the line and Miller's effort looked certain to go in if it hadn't hit their bloke's arm. Matt Murphy looked a different class to everyone around him; his touch to link up the midfield was supreme. At half time we lost Miller who, as I think Ian stated came out with great credit for his workrate and harrying of their defenders. IMO the right decision was made to bring on Spencer (oh shock) however I'm not sure he should have played where he did. When Chopper came on against Wealdstone earlier in the season we played some of our best football with him up front. He could have played the Miller role upfront of chasing people down with his greater pace and athleticism. Spencer IS NOT a striker, IS NOT a right wing back and IS NOT a centre back HE IS A CREATIVE CENTRAL MIDFIELDER. Reading his player profile today it states he played over 100 times in the CONFERENCE and was in the British University squad. Obviously not good enough for us then!!! Next substitution he brings on Steer for Michael Murphy. Correct choice, well done. Then, aaarrrggghhh Gyoury for Wilko at 1-0 down with Seedel on the bench. NO NO NO NO NO. The second half was dreadful with not 1 player gaining any credit whatsoever.

After the game, well I said my bit at the ground and on the coach and I can't be bothered to do it again. Lets just hope that both players AND supporters come out fighting, in the best sense of the word, on Tuesday and get back to winning ways. We are not a bad team overnight but we need something and quickly because I feel it won't be as easy to stage a great comeback like last season in this much tougher league.
