Uncle,

I feel that after Tuesday night that you are trying to rob us of our future.

I was delighted last Saturday to find out that the entry fee was the same as last season £6.50.

On attending Barkingside on Tuesday my jaw dropped when the turnstyle bloke asked for £8.00.

In light of the recent press speculation of our financial might, could I suggest that we look into the price of entry into the Riverside. I for one am quite willing to pay extra, to see a class act and assist the future of the mighty urchins.

Regards from a bleeried eyed

Digger,

I think that the incredibly generous current admission fee to see the mighty urchins strut their funky stuff is well worth the £6.50.

More importantly, I also reckon that your disenchanted hammers/daggers/spuds/[****!!****] fan will agree.

shhhhh.

its all a ploy to lure the uninitiated into the 'urchin habit'

Fans of other clubs criticise Hornchurch unfairly, & compare us to Chelsea and say that we are the non-league Chelsea...well bollox to that! Chelsea are the premier league Hornchurch!!

What I think, (and I have no idea whether this is true), is that the fellas in charge of the place have a long-term vision for this magnificent football club, and:

1) do not want to alienate the regulars through pricing them out of attending.

2) do not want to alienate *potential* visitors, who may well be local & could (e.g. after seeing 6 of the best vs basingstoke) attend each home game. (It only takes one good performance on the pitch to get you hooked after all...)

3) They know what they are doing... observer/grauniad editors may instruct their underlings to be as scathing as they can about us, but upon reading the lame articles these so-called journalists produce, it allows us the opportunity to have a huge hearty laugh at, not only their ineptitude, but also their all-round ignorance.

4) When (if?) we attain conference status, there will be an influx of 'glory hunters'. This is an absolute truth. Why not postpone the inevitable price-raise until these johnny-come-latelys arrive? :loadsamoney:

5) I am sure that current season-ticket holders will be 'looked after' whenever the prices do rise.

.

.

.

just had a look upwards & realised I'm rambling a bit.

"Admission prices will rise - when they fecking need to" would have been the easiest & simplest response....

(gf is shouting for me now - must retire - see most of you tomoz.? - dont forget that public enemy No.1 goes by the name of Matt York & wears the 8 shirt...)

3 out of the ground, and one in the tree....

IMHO I feel we should be very careful not to alienate new visitors to The Stadium by referring to them as “Glory Hunters”. This is a somewhat derogatory term which implies these new spectators are not “real” supporters and are therefore looked down upon, with some contempt, by the “true” long-standing fans. Should the 45 supporters and the dog who regularly turned out to watch the team when they were playing in the depths of the Ryman League regard the 800 or so “new” supporters who now attend home games to be “Glory Hunters”? I think not. Sadly, work commitments deny me from taking in as many games as I would like but if I am honest I feel more inclined to make the time now that the lads are blazing a trail than in the past when they were not.

Digger, with all due respect I'm not really sure what your point is. At the moment the Chins charge £6.50 (have done for the last 3 seasons) and we are getting crowds of around say 500-700 (correct me if I am wrong). How is bumping up the entrance money to say £10 going to make much difference? All that may do is STOP people from attending and for what? An extra £1400 on the gate? And if your talking about putting them up even more then you will definately turn people away?!

I am sure you are right urchinboys, and a point well made. The Club could not do any more to make everyone welcome. Hornchurch FC sets the standards that all other clubs try to follow. The majority of the criticism leveled at us is borne out of envy and jealousy. I shall be there on Saturday with my young Nephew in tow. I reckon there will be a bumper crowd anticipating another cricket score. Maybe another six goals is too much to ask for but 4-0 should be a distinct possibility.

ha ha...1-0 will do and three points....

good comments above chaps and the average this year for home is 850ish....

we must be doing something right....people are fed up with getting ripped off and I reckon the 800ish at an average of a fiver allowing for subsidies is better than 300 at a tenner...

in the long run it will work for us...... <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
