Oh Dear!

I have been reading and following this site for some considerable time, I have spent equal amounts of time standing behind the goal at Park Lane.

I have watched some excellent football and read some intelligent postings with well balanced views and honest opinions.

These views have reflected honestly the performances on the pitch, at times critical, occassionally humorous, sometimes rather biased and even on the odd occassion a little foolish.

As an ex Londoner I am not a life long fan but I have not missed a home game in two years, I attend away games when I can and that includes the less high profile games such as Lewes in a friendly.

I do not get involved with the club beyond the football because of other commitments. I recognise peoples faces at games and recognise writing styles on this forum.

Suddenly shortly after the appearance of a group of muppets behind the goal last week we start getting a decline in the quality of the postings.

I ask myself are the two connected, has loyal canvey fan given himself that name after a solitary visit to this forum and to Park Lane.

Is he a lamb in disguise?

I do hope it is the latter because if as he claims he is a Canvey fan. I worry because the quality of fan that we have gained has declined since entering the conference.

I have read recent postings with interest and am slightly amused that people like LCF and The Lamb feel that their juvenile ramblings would cause a reaction as violent as annoyance.

Do they not realise that is not going to happen, we have suffered postings at the hands of people far more intelligent and creative than them who got bored or grew up and went away.

I suspect somebodys mum and dad may soon realise that their homework is not being done and instead they are posting, they may find they are being put to bed early.

I have just discovered who LCF is and I am tickled, mainly because I did not realise he could read at all let alone type be it poorly enough to post.

I would like to suggest that we do not remove or block these posting but instead completly ignore all of them.

Lets not even acknowledge their existence say for a month, lets just try it for a laugh and see what they do.

I made my first posts yesterday - which seemed to coincide with LCF and Lamb chops etc. I was a bit concerned that "regular" posters may have thought I was on a wind up as well - although hopefully the content of my posts made people think otherwise.

I read one of the last Lamb postings yesterday evening and started to compose something witty about "Dolly the sheep" etc. but ended up deleting the post as it would have given them some satisfaction that I had reacted.

I totally agree Mobrien - just ignore them. There is a big difference in those types of post and the quality tongue in cheek posts from the likes of the GNFC fans - although they had the odd d.ck post on here.

As for quality of fans - well that will potentially change as the club evolves and developes - good and bad. I would welcome any new fans to Park Lane wether it is their first game or not - would even welcome the odd convert from other clubs (WHU etc.)

I have followed the club, not because of the glory cup games, but because my son plays for one of the junior youth teams and he wanted to see a game. For all the faults others like to aim at Canvey FC, for the 3 seasons we finished as runners up we played some quality football - it made me want to come back - and I have.

All teams seem to attract idiots as they grow and gain success. I think Hornchurch had problems last year at home games with a gang of gobby youths starting to turn up at home games.

One thing I did notice last year on conference team forums was the amount of crap posts that others placed on opposing club sites - more fans equals potentially more idiots and comments.

One thing I do credit The Lamb for is that they use their clubs identity. I bet they haven't got the nerve to go on the Tamworth site and post a message about what quality drivel they have placed on the Canvey forum using the good name of Tamworth FC (assumes they are true Tamworth fans)

I would never dream of going onto another clubs forum declaring I am a Canvey fan and then posting a load of B@ll@cks - it reflects on CIFC and the CIFC fans who use the forum.

Mo Brien, as you say you are a regular poster to the Canvey forum, which I surf from time to time, and have read your bits, weren't you the dad of the lad who did Shoot for a Meal at Braintree Town, last season,

Can I ask why you are not registered?

I know it stops your regular non trouble making fans from posting, but would you consider blocking non registered fans? Make everyone register.

Just a suggestion.

Cheers, Mark.

At least with being unregistered this forum attracts posts from opposition supporters...alright, some complimentary, some [****!!****]...but you can always tell the genuine ones...and the derogatory ones are there to be laughed at and to be used as target practise.

oh, and urchins did have a few young chavs. More target practise...
