Wassa chav?

This post is made at the severe risk of inviting ridicule from you lot...

...but what the heck!

I didn't realise that supporting The Rebels would be so educational.

Two new words to add to my vocabulary in as many weeks: first (courtesy of a typo on the Official website ) 'frist' and now (following the Staines match analysis) 'chav'.

After a bit of hunting, I found this useful article which discusses the origin of the word 'chav' in a very readable manner.

No shame in asking PJ. Although obviously you answered your own question. There was a letter in the Questions Asked section of The Times about the very same word a couple of weeks ago.

Chavi - common term used by the traveling people of Colnbrook for children.

More relevant - Chav the offspring of Jamie Javis showing the outcome of cross breading within the family - pets included.

Perhaps not the football club Staines Massive but the people that really think they are in the Staines Massive are chavs!

Plus they are not decent fans...leaving before the end? Taking flags down when we scored? Not clapping injured players off even though we did! Not 'decent' fans. Might be nice enough people but not decent fans!! I don't think the Chav army turned up when we played them!

Not quite on the same topic...or is it?

Just on the Guildford side of Woking (on the A320) there is a roundabout whose upkeep has been sponsored by

the "Surrey County Council Youth Offending Team".

So perhaps there's a career opportunity for some of these 'fans' after all...
