David James signs for Canvey

A great game for the neutral and a real cup final for thurrock and both of the fans they brought with them.

From the kick off Ash looked nervous and really did not command his area at all. He was like David James a bit unlucky with the 1st, but he unsettled the defence by not commanding his area. He looked like a goalie who has not played for a lomg time.

I was dissapointed to hear some of the heckling from our supporters which he obviously heard and made his confidence worse.

Wardy could be quite easily heard telling him to forget it and relax, other defenders, telling him to "have some courage".

The referee did not have a clue and let them kick lumps out of Ollie who looked like he had a point to prove, his best game that I can remember, all in all though we had a very poor 1st half.

2nd half I recognised the real Canvey we were playing by far the best football and were treating the game like a friendly, you got the feeling that we were not over concerned by the result and they looked well contained as we dominated.

With extra time looming another clanger dropped and they nicked it, well worth nine quid, I did not feel any more gutted than if we had lost a game in the park.

Definatly an entertaining game but certainly not worth risking any injuries and I think that showed in our attitude.

Shame about our so called supporters slagging of our goalie, especially the bunch of young tossers at the top behind the goal who were slagging off everything all the time.

They even started taking the piss out of the burgers before kick off, shouting insults down at the lady who run her socks off cooking and serving on her own all night.

Why did they not save the nine quid or better still f*&k off and support Thurrock. They have [***!!***] burgers every week.

Not sure if they are the same lot that you're talking about Mo Brien but I had a load of generally obnoxious youths standing behind me and my dad in the second half. Wasn't too bothered by their language but they were so bloody irritating!!

They were standing on top of the terrace overlooking the burger van in the second half so possibly it was the same ones but generally I found them very distracting and half the time they wern't even watching the game. I don't like saying this but they were old enough to know better, must have been at least 15!!!

That was them, not noticed them before, got right on my tits.

Competing to talk the loudest and come out with the best funny. The problem was nobody over seven would have found them funny.

I stand there every week and I would have noticed them maybe because there was so few people in they stood out.

I suppose it is better to have them pay nine quid to stand up there chatting than to hang about outside somones house causing a nuisance.

They did no harm really just a pain in the [****!!****].

Well said!!! It didnt go un-noticed on the pitch the so called fans hurling abuse at Scarborough either!! Get behind the team - we're not premiership for gods sake, encourage the team they always come over clapping, thanking us for the support, so lets earn it! <img src="/images/graemlins/applaus.gif" alt="" />

Waterboy, I attended the Scarborough game and can't recall anybody "hurling abuse"

Some people around me were a little frustrated at players making simple mistakes and dodgy passes, but I don't recall any abuse.

Everyone stayed at the end of the match and , as you say, applauded the players and they responded positively.

Which players had abuse hurled at them? [color:"black"] [/color]

I`m not sure about "hurling abuse" but i heard from the back of the stand "i aint come all this way to watch this **** " and that was in the first half! I thought we traveled to get behind our team, not get on their backs?

Everyone sees the game differently but we all support the same team, lets encourage instead of always looking for something to moan about.

Ronin - I did hear that shouted out and it certainly didn't encourage the team. I think using the word "abuse" is a little strong. Compared to some fans of other teams - Canvey fans do not "abuse"

I can also appreciate to a degree why it was shouted. I was probably thinking along the same lines but instead chose to keep it positive - and in my head!

You could also compare the first and second halves. We all got behind Ollie when he was making telling runs down that side. It raised the fans and then ultimately the team. Hence, we gained a draw.

What I did feel was really positive was the number of fans, for our size of club, who did make the effort. That goes for Exeter to. We definitely get behind the team better away from home than at Park Lane.

why do people only get behind their team when they are doing well, when the players are doing well they don't need the confidence boost (although by no means should we stop) it is when the players are making silly mistakes and their confidence is dropping that they need the encouragement of the crowd to spur them on.

if it goes wrong on the pitch then supporters have every right to complain, they have paid for the team to entertain them. but it should be done after the game not during.

support your team, get behind them, when its going wrong sing louder, then moan after.
