Staines 4 Slough 0

Never really got going against a strong, physical, well organised Staines side. One down at half time, Hodges off injured, Haddow battered three times but managed to carry on, we were second best.

Plenty happened off the pitch, of which I don't yet want to go into too much detail, but it is being reported (I hope) to the match officials.

The scoreline was more a reflection of how poor we were as opposed to how good Staines were and I don't believe that is sour grapes. In terms of chances the game was probably fairly even but we didn't have that cutting edge tonight.

We need to put this down to an off day which we will have from time to time and people shouldn't let tw@ts like the Staines keeper wind them up. Remember he tried that last year at Stag Meadow and regretted it in the second game when we anhialated them at their place.

We were always going to lose sometime and tonight doesn't make us a bad side. What is important is how we react to it on Saturday at Cheshunt, both as players and supporters.

Come on you Rebels.

Hopefully the whole team will show more fight. Very disappointing to lose Hodges - when Miller came on, he hardly had a kick. Haddow was probably the best of a poor bunch IMO. In fairness, I think Staines battered us, they were up for it from 1st minute to 90th, were first to every ball and challenge. They'll do well this season. Pity about their chavvy contingent of pre-pubescant youths, a mouthy number 5, and 'that' alleged incident.

It's all about if's and but's. If Alex's goal had been allowed or if Matt Murphy had put his one-on-one chance away it might have been a different result. Having said that Staines worked hard, closed down the space in midfield and had the pace up front to trouble our defence. I think it was their third goal which caught us on the break and they looked like doing that a few times.

More concerning was the injury to Hodgey - he and Murphy looked like they were starting to gel and will get better the more games they play. Let's hope he isn't out for too long. Good to see Veli out there, hopefully he is back soon too.

Yes Staines did their job on us ! clattering and banging for the first half, closing us down very quickly and their forwards were fast !

We were all at sea after the second goal went in after a rare mistake in the defence, We then pusg forward a brave decision especially when we knew how fast their forwards were , but at least we had a go, remember it was not all one way traffic at times and we did miss a few ourselves.

But we know and with the great backing of our supporters we can move on !

Even Yeading Lost last night , and in fact the results we not to bad !

Up the Rebels...

see you all tonight at Windsor when the real match takes place !!!!

BFR perhaps some fans leave before the first whistle! God knows enough leave before the final whistle!! LOL

When we played them it didn't look like the 300-400 it was but perhaps alot stay in their bar (who can blame them!)

At 3-0 down we were still making more noise than them - Wakes is under the impression that there were over 600 there last night with 150 Slough fans - given that Staines haven't got 400 through the gate before this season including away supporters, it seems rather unlikely that they suddenly had 450 supporters turn up for a midweek game.

Oh well you win some and you most defintely lose some. I'll continue to be gracious about the defeat but they can still stick the Thames Club up their arses.

Absolute mare in the second half. But these things happen. I hoped for a point prior to the game but it was not to be.

Two turning points were Haddow's disallowed goal - which the referee initially appeared to give but then thought better of it. With the benefit of a replay it certainly appears as if there was a push by Murphy on the Staines defender.

Secondly the one on one just before half time when Murph nearly nutted the twat in goal.

At half time we did not deserve to go in behind.

Lets get back on track on Saturday when with their fifty or so fans Cheshunt should have fewer chavs and hopefully a less obnoxious playing staff.

Unlucky lads. Seen the 2nd half. Thought your number 6 made alot of space for himself but rarely got the ball played to him.

Staines attendances? Dunno why but they always seem to exaggerate the crowd for no apparent reason - proves they are all wannabe's.

I thought you had brilliant support last night. Pity about the 'no pubes' st**nes kids trying to wind you up. You should have stole their lolly-pops - they would have started crying all the way home to their parents!

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Thought Metcalfe was a complete waste of space. Did absolutley nothing throughout the match. Haddow was in my opinion the best of a bad bunch. I doubt weather many other players who had been clattered into at least three times would have carried on playing. As for Harris, same as Metcalfe. A couple of flashy skills at the beggining of the second-half, but nothing else. Carbon, I think he was one of about three people who actually made an effort once we were 2-0 down.

Lets just hope that was a one-off, and that the team will be up ofr it on Saturday.

It was a night to forget pretty quickly and we should do that. The players and management would admit they were well below par but I certainly don't think this is any time for an inquisition. Six weeks ago there was still some concern that we wouldn't start the season - now here we are having been stuffed last night but sitting 5th in the table and in a play-off spot. We clapped off the players like we did when Dover beat us on the opening day and we should continue to support them. Eddie and Mickey won't be happy with what happened last night and will get that message across in no uncertain terms in training.

Nobody wants to see their side lose by four goals, but just remember where we were six weeks ago and where we are now. We've got an unblemished record at Stag Meadow and the points will come on our travels. We're not going to beat teams by three or four goals in this division as regularly as last season because it is a much tougher league, as illustrated last night by Harrow going to Yeading and leaving with all three points. It was a bad day at the office but that was one match out of 42. This match will be long forgotten if we're still in the top five at the end of the season
