Don't ask me why but I was just on the Stalybridge forum (got to it via Hayes to see what was being said after their 8-0 drubbing). There was a post on there titled I'm Not Lost For Words. Just wondered if this rung any bells.<p>"Mr Miller was reported to have said that the Margate game was a chance for the players to show him who wants contracts for next season . He has his answer.<p>He should get himself off to W H Smiths, buy a clean sheet of paper and a set of pencils and start work.<p>Now it really is all over it's time for all of us to remove those rose-coloured spectacles and face facts.<p>We need players who can and will perform in the Unibond. To know where we are going we first need to be sure of where we are:<p>1 We have not enjoyed the confidence instilled by a keeper who can command his penalty area. We've had shot-stoppers and that's it.<p>2 None of our much-lauded loan signings and star strikers has cut the mustard. We've all warmed to Kelly,Clements and Ayorinde , but hang on , we scored fewer goals than any other Conference team . It can't be the fault of our midfield , can it , where the universally loved Sid and Kevin operate? Or are we also guilty of being dazzled by these lads' undoubted devotion to the club and being blind to their inadequacies?<p>3 We have signed players with hundreds of games of football league experience. Only Beesley and Matty Woods ( on occasions ) have seemed interested. <p>So once Mr Miller has his clean sheet of paper and has pencilled in a couple of dozen names , we need pre-season friendlies that will stretch us. Not the annual round of Trafford,Woodley Sports and Curzon Ashton.<p>We the fans will not tolerate being told again that the new team needs time to gel. Get them gelled in the pre-season and tested against the best opposition we can find.<p>This Margate debacle need not be in vain."<p>To me a few word changes and this rings very true about our current situation.
