Congratulations to Claire on completing her Sponsored Walk at Hyde Park yesterday morning.

 

Claire texted me afterwards, to let me know she's done the 3.5 miles in 49 minutes - an impressive rate of 4.28mph, just fractionally behind the speed that me, Knocky, Patrick and co did our sponsored walk to Northwood last season.

 

Well done, Claire, and I'll hand over the £15 sponsorship money when I next see you. A valiant effort and well-earned.

My pregnant wife walks three miles to work in 35-40 minutes too, so I guess that averages about the same speed.

 

Perhaps you should train for next year's Marathon together?

A tenner, I think. Would like to think she at least jogged some of it, 4 mph is just a brisk walk.

Three and half miles in under 50 minutes is quite a quick walk, even for a skinny rake like Claire, so she must have run some of it.

 

Claire, was Paula Radcliffe there?

It was not 3 and a half miles - it was 3.1 miles. Five kilometres.

 

As I said - my pregnant wife walks just under 3 miles to work every morning in 35-40 minutes.

 

If I'd known it was a 3 mile sponsored walk, I would not have bothered. Same as CANV says in the "Training" thread.

 

However, it is a worthy cause, and I will honour my promise.

Okay everyone, I'm planning a sponsered walk round Safeways tonight, in aid of Thorns Syndrome, a rare condition that makes people want to throw cider cans at people.

 

It starts tonight at 5PM from the carpark, makes its way through every aisle before reaching the turning point by the 12 for £6 cans of Olde English cider. It then heads for the checkouts and back to the carpark to retrieve the old softtop from the disabled spaces.

 

If anyone wants to sponser me or join in, please let me know before tonight.

I have heard that a shopping trip can really take it out of you. A friend of mine once went shopping early evening and the rest of his evening / night was a write off as he was so tired. I think Zealster knows the chap.
