Walk to Walton

Well done to all the walkers a great effort. I hope you all now fully recovered. The Football Club and receiving Charities should be proud and pleased.

It was just a pity that when you arrived at Walton, the Club (Slough) did not have any officals to greet and congratulate you all. Only a `quick handshake and a well done lads' from Roy Merryweather. Where were Deaner and Browne or even a few non-playing players on the day. Did the above even offer sponsorship or a donation. Also I thought that the Local rags could have sent a reporter or photographer, too much to expect.

Once again well done, especially Gary for all the organisation.

I would like to congratulate all who took part too.<p>Just one question . Why was the walk so long? to raise more money on a mile by mile basis? My RAC map says 13.1 miles !!!!

The route by road: 20 miles.

The route in John's book (Windsor to Shepperton): 13.75 miles

The route along the river all the way through: 27.5 miles. There must be some variation in those routes somewhere, but then, the river isn't the shortest route between the two.<p>Kevin McGoldrick wore a pedometer to measure the total distance covered and this final figure was 27.5 miles.....Ouch!

I did the walk on saturday and just about recovered now!!! but apart from roy shaking my hand, no deaner, browne or players bothered to come and congratulate us, suppose i was seeking to much??? plus i very much doubt if any of them sponsored any of us, i bet they didn't!!! what a joke. well anyway i feel good for walking, would not walk 27 miles again but will definitely take part next year, just hope we can get more than 10!

Presuming we're with them next year, the walk to Staines (depending on the fixture list) would be a good one. <p>Again presuming, that would be about 15 miles?

Well done lads, I will stump up my pledge on Saturday. Could not make it Saturday, stuck in Aberdeen had to be content with watching Aberdeen v's Livingstone. I think it's a disgrace that officials and some players from the club, apart from Roy Merriweather, could not be bothered to greet you etc, shows contempt of the true fans like yourselves, again well done.

Nah, come on Walton again! Come on it was a stroll! Maybe we could walk to Gateshead next season if we get a decent run in the trophy!<p>
