Moving to Park Street would just be another nail in this club's coffin.

I've always used Chesham as an example of a club in decline. (Sorry Steve) Twelve years ago the got a thousand through the gate every week as the won the championship. That season we came second with a great set up: chairman, mananger, players, and of course support.

 

Five or so years ago I remember going there and thinking where has everyone gone. They had gates of about 250, mainly older supporters, but just a handful of younger fans.

 

Now we have 250 every week. Fortuntely, we are still playing at the same level rather than suffering a relegation, and have a large group of teenage fans, some of whom may stick with the the club in the coming years. However, give it another season and we'll be visiting Chesham again.

 

We've become Chesham!

 

Now we need to stop ourselves following Enfield down the pan.

 

Does anyone have any ideas how we can stop the slide now?

I'm not sure there's anything we can do.

 

Ultimately, it's in the chairman's hands, and if he wants to see this thing through to the bitter end, I don't think he can be stopped.

 

You could suggest voting with your feet, but 500 people have done that already, and it hasn't made a scrap of difference.

 

A move to Park Street would finally kill the club, I think.

A little short-sighted there, Mr Zeal. What about the high-speed monorail link to the City centre? The shopping mall with the mezzanine floor of cafe-restaurants? The two levels of executive boxes for the prawn sandwich brigade at £5K a match? Pop concerts every other weekend? Not that I have sufficient information to 'promote' the scheme, Rob, but it does include a 'Park & Ride' base, apparently, and I think that's something to do with buses.
