LIVE ALBUMS

Got the week off to sort through some stuff, get the house ship shape and well...re file my CD's...and that is when the problems start...You find those classics that were filed and piled and spend more time listening, re discovering and get nothing done.

There was a earlier link on this forum concerning live albums...my suggestion was The Who "Live At Leeds"...Still going with that one but have re discovered The Kinks "One For The Road" and boy does it rock. Top band, top tunes and a top performance.

Any thoughts on what is the definitive live album?

What I like about the above two albums (Bangladesh/Oasis), of course, is that they're 'as nature intended'

A healthy amount of crowd noise in the mix, rather than just recorded through the desk with crowd at a minimum, and a whole show, ie. not cut, copied and pasted from different shows, or enhanced.

This is where Wings Over America fails.

Zeal, i have done no such thing. For goodness sake, i am allowed to like any artist/band/group that i so like, whether you like them or not. I do not have to agree with you on every single thing, just because you have a wider knowledge of music than i do.

I am open to anyone's suggestion of good music. I do not mock it until i have listened to it, and if i do like it, i like it, if i don't i don't, but i always give it the benifit of the doubt.

Let me try and explain this in simple terms...

Say Gazza and I are having a chat about who's better out of Real Madrid and Inter Milan. Two of the very top sides in World Football.

Then you come along and say, "well I'm a St Albans City fan - they're great".

Well, both you and I know that St Albans City are in a totally different ballpark. It would be a joke to suggest they were on a par with Real or Inter.

However, St Albans are your personal taste, and of course you can like them whether we agree or not.

But don't insult Real or Inter by even mentioning them in the same breath.

Ditto Robbie Williams.
