At last!! Some news!! [No. 162]

While queuing at the newsagents this morning to collect a copy of "Corriere Dell Sera", I glanced at the back page of the St Albans Observer.

The manager is quoted concerning his dismissal from the dug-out at Havant [*see below] and he will be fining himself. 'It's a passionate game etc.'.

Zoricich, Cousins [knee] and Martin [back] will not feature on Saturday, but we have signed 21 year old Ben Walshe who was released by QPR at the end of last season, the wonderfully named Ram Marwar from Grays, a Norwegian international, apparently, and Dave 'Bullet' Parkinson who 'scored a lot of goals for last season's successful Reserve side'.

Err.. That's it.

[*] The dismissal of the Manager from the dug-out at Havant had it's moment of humour which appears to have passed comment on here. He is one of the most voluable managers in the League in my view. It's a pretty constant barrage during the match which is, clearly, his style and that's up to him, of course.

The dug-outs at Havant are opposite the main stand and behind them is a narrow terrace, separated from the green bit by a fence about 3' 6" high. Very few people stand in that area. Anyway. After some decision or another, SC suggested to the referee that he wasn't having the best of days, or some such. The referee went over and did whatever those people do to dismiss him from the dug-out. SC climbed over the lowish fence, a distance of about two yards from the technical area, and stood behind the dug-out. He continued to exhort the troops in his usual fashion from that position for about 10 minutes.

Perhaps someone suggested to him that the referee might check his rule-book to see whether he had any jurisdiction over the terraced area, and whether someone could be dismissed twice in one match and SC then went and stood behind the goal.
