Good point Chris, are these little jobs that Slough fans have done (the netting, the fence, the roof coverings) being disregarded totally, or are they counting towards the annual cost of renting the ground, which WEFC fans like to remind us about so much??

Chris S- We offered to do any work the club wanted not long after the season ended... They said they did not want any help. What could we of done? No one is knocking your efforts but we did not ask you to do that so don't think we should 'owe' you anything because of it. Alot of people do alot of things for the club that are supporters and we are trying our best to fund work around the ground and in the clubhouse so to hint that we don't do anything is a very wrong. No one is knocking Slough's fans efforts around the ground you cannot knock us as we DID offer.

Offering and doing are two different things Woody. When something needs doing it should be done. The roofs were leaking and needed fixing which is what Chris and whoever else did. I expect the club didn't ask you for any help because they've come to realise what a passive incompetent bunch you are. No wonder the Windsor chairman would love us to be supporting his club

Woody...I take your point...if you offerred ...

But having been supporting a non league team for about 40 years now ...its a well known fact all non league clubs need help, not nessassary to offer or be asked, sometimes its just pride that gets in the way ...

Just for your help , stick a notice up just before the season ends and put a list up of the things needed to be done , then get people to voulenteer to do those jobs in the summer break, thats how we did it , look around the site and see what needs doing and just do it....

Your ground is looking bloody good , for all the banter that goes on between us ...how about getting some money up to get a small covered area each end of the ground , we might even help....with money and help...

good luck ..its a up hill battle to keep a ground of your size upto a good order .... and many hands make light work

cheers chris S

Chris S, and mal316/Woody/chels (and others)

This bickering about who has or has not done this maintenance is doing nobody any good. How about forming a group called 'Friends of Stag Meadow' that would allow Slough and Windsor supporters to join in with maintenance on a non-partisan basis? Thus, after the close season, both clubs' programme notes could say "Thankyou to the 'Friends of Stag Meadow' for all the work done over the summer..." without making the supporters of either club feel superior/inferior to the other?

I'm not suggesting anything fantastically formal be setup, just that the supporters groups for both clubs come to an agreement on working together under a common, neutral, name.

No offence intended, Mal.

If anything, my comment was in response to the original reaction your programme notes generated (as hinted by BFR), and the 'discussions' going on above.

There is a lot of goodwill between the two groups of supporters, but it is rather depressing to see petty point-scoring about who does more for Stag Meadow (reminds me of a certain councillor...) Hence my suggestion of a 'neutral' group (or name, at least).

No doubt there would still be people who stirred things up by saying the 'Friends' were mostly Slough supporters/Windsor supporters, etc, but we'll just have to ignore them!
