I think it's great that people want to say how much ETFC are hated and go on about us like this. I suspect that every football club from the Premiership downwards has it's detractors who say this sort of thing regardless of the evidence to the contrary. So, if you want to throw abuse at us, bring it on, it's part of being a football team.

 

Also, there's a saying that says there's only one thing worse than being talked about, and that's not being talked about. So, I guess we're important enough in these people's eyes that they feel they have to have a go. And the good thing is it doesn't really matter what they say, as it's just their opinion. And that's the good thing about opinions: anyone can have one regardless of how well informed about the subject they are. So, if you want to have a go at us, bring it on, it's merely your opinion.

 

On the telly the other day, someone was telling a story about Jimmy Hill. Apparently, Hill was sitting in the commentary box getting ready for the broadcast, and the crowd started chanting 'Jimmy Hill's a w*nk*r'. When asked if that upset him, Hill said, 'That's fame'. So, if you want to abuse us, bring it on, it's our fame that's causing it.

 

I think we would be stupid to expect anything else than occasional abuse as we are pretty vocal about our club on this forum, and trhat will draw attention. I also think anyone having a go because we compalin about refs and suchlike is a bit daft. How many people complained about Urs Meier (or whatever his name was) in Euro 04. But the bottom line was: if England really were the better side, we'd have scored more goals anyway. Having a go at the ref is as much a part of football as clubs getting abuse from other clubs' supporters. So, if you wish to cast aspersions, bring it on, it's part of being a supporter.

 

So, if someone wants to have a go at ETFC and spout a load of daft rubbish, that's up to them, and I hope they enjoy it. If, however, they choose to desist from such remarks, then I would like to congratulate them on reaching a higher level of maturity.

 

I did like some of the jokes, though.

there maybe some who dont like the Town but there was 390 people at the game today, so i KNOW we have had the highest gate in the league twice this season. so there may also be a couple of people that do like the Town.
