I take personal resentment to that statement. I love my country (England), and I am extremely proud to be English. That does not stop me from being with my American wife, and living there. I can't count the amount of American's that would love me to be back there, after my visit a few months ago.

I intend to be with my wife, wherever she is. Be it America, be it Chile, be it Nicaragua. Wherever my wife is, I want to be there. My wife is American, so I WILL be with her.

The whole point Bloodlust is making is that we will be together. It doesn't matter if it is in England or in America.. or Outer Mongolia for that matter. Whether we choose to stay here in the States or go back to England, he is English and I am American. Whether he chooses to become a citizen here or I choose to become a citizen there, or we leave things as they are is beside the point.

 

When I was in England, I was welcomed with open arms by everyone I met. But I never felt the need to sing the anthem, because I am American. While he was here, he was welcomed with open arms, and there are countless people who can't wait for him to return. Again, that is no need for him to feel a need to sing the anthem of a country he was not born in. A person can love being in the country he or she chooses to live in and remain loyal to his or her home country.

I Still love Britain.........My Wife is American and this is where we settled, so i took citizenship. America adopted me, so i became a citizen and will sing the Star Spangled Banner(and be proud to do so) from now on!

I was born in America, and I love America, but I don't feel a need to prove it by singing the anthem. It is what is in your heart that matters, not what you sing. He can love America and enjoy citizenship but still have loyalty to his country. His reason for coming here is ME, not the country. As stated above, we want to be together. This just happens to be where we are going to be.

I suggest you don't take the Oath of Allegiance then, because you have to renounce Allegiance to any other country. If you take it and don't mean it,...What's the point?

What is wrong with having dual citizenship? If we would decide to end up moving to England, that is what I would want to do. There is nothing wrong with his wanting to be loyal to the country of his birth and loving this country too.

 

Again, it would be different if the move was just to leave one country to be in another. This is about us being together.

Dual Citizenship was never mentioned

If you take the Oath of Alegiance........You can't hold Dual Citizenship.

 

The oath of allegiance is:

In some cases, INS allows the oath to be taken without the clauses:

 

". . .that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by law. . ."

Slightly flawed, don't you think? There isn't a chance in the slightest that I'm gonna turn my back on my country of birth, just because something says I should, and I seriously doubt many people would. Then there's the 'god' part of it, which is another matter.

The fact they allow it to be taken out shows me they don't expect someone to fight for America. Since that is the case, then there is no problem with a person feeling loyal to his or her birth country. If it was an all or nothing situation, they would leave that part in for everyone.

The part about fighting was optional in case people had to fight against Relatives in their old Country.............I wish you would check your facts before posting, it has nothing to do with Allegiance!
