On holiday in the Lake District, I went to watch Stevenage's Trophy semi-final at Morecambe. A good result for Stevenage in no small measure due to a superb performance from Wilko, who looked enormous between the posts. He made three great saves by quickly closing down oncoming attackers as well as a good tip over and a number of clean catches under pressure. His 'replacement'as our first choice keeper now features in the lower division of the Dr Martens League.The whole occasion was a poignant reminder of how things were not so very long ago for Slough and unfortunately also of what, through poor management of what resources are apparently even now still available, a sad embarassment the club has become in such a short space of time.
