I had it in my head that they were American and very heavy, but I've actually rather liked the last 2 singles, although there is a large similarity with them and the Coral.

 

I want to buy a new album today, should I get the Libertines?

Brought the Zutons album, not bad but nor great!

Don't sound anything like the Coral though IMO

I think they are a bit like the Coral, they're also both from Merseyside and even have the same record lable.

 

The Zutons are decent live, I'd give the album a 6.5, it's ok to good.

I agree - You Will You Won't sounds a lot like the Coral, or at least a lot like the mid-60s British Beat bands that have inspired the Coral.

 

Still to get the album - only heard their last single (Remember Me?) once, but thought it was great. 1965 lives on!!

Jkif, I was at Kings Lynn on Sat, but will be at spurs a week on Sunday for Norwich.

The Delays - wishy-washy gay Suede wannabies. Typical V Festival-type band. 2/10

 

The Stands - ace singles, dull album. 5/10

 

The Stills - ????

I have the Stills album, the jury is still definately out.

Delays have a hint of the Cocteau Twins about them and aren't in the least like Suede IMHO, I think they are very good and so is the album - 8/10

 

Stands - blands more like - 3/10

 

Stills - I have a single of theirs but I can;t remember what it's like, that may be a minus point - ?/10

 

I had the Zutons on the CD I was making Zeal maybe I should replace it with the Stills then as you've heard the Zutons.

 

Got the Libertines album today, not a patch on the 1st one! Kasabian's album is out Monday!

Well yes, you do seem to be getting more and more into your V Festival-type bands these days, so I've noticed. You even admitted to liking the last Keane single, if I recall.

 

Nearer Than Heaven is even on the Love Actually soundtrack - says it all really.

Well I do like the delays and I thought the last Keane single was OK, I haven't got the new one and have no intention .... mind you we both own the first Coldplay album so you can hardly mock and I'm still well into my punk rock but you like watered down crap like The Stands (NB - Whereas you brought the Coldplay album I actually stole mine from a Transvestite - true story)

Telling someone with 1000+ CDs they're into "watered down crap like The Stands" is a tad unfair and generalistic, Mr Thorns!

 

Particularly when earlier in this thread I said the album was disappointing.

 

A quick look at my collection may suggest that I have slightly broader taste than that, as I think you're very much aware!

When did Chumbawamba enter the fray (I shall take what you said with a pinch of salt on account of the <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />), I could enter into a lenthy discussion about it but to the untrained eye it will always come down to they sold their soul to EMI, never mind the 15 previous years and the 6 years since .... pop over to their website!

Judging me on one album I own (The Stands) is as ridiculous as judging you on one dreadful mid-90's record you love (Tubthumping).

 

My music collection stretches slightly beyond Scouse Beat Groups, mate!!

I would say that my music collection stretches as much beyond "Scouse Beat Group", as yours does beyond "South London Shouty Guitar/Drum-Machine Pop Duo's".
