That is the most worrying thing of all....i thought the break-even attendance was about 500?

I think the 500 assumed a large attendance for preseason friendlies. We'll soon be down to about 200. Just under 297 on a reasonalble sunny Bank Holiday afternoon says it all.

Our present record of one home win in all competitions is the only time in our history that just a single home match has been won during the first eight months of a year.

That's a little unfair as we didn't play any matches at home during June. So really it's only seven months.

At least we'll get 12 points from the next 4 games.

We badly need to win at least 2 of the next four and really should be looking to win at least 4 of the next 6 in the league...but i am not confident at all...what is most disturbing is the sense that there is no plan, no strategy on or off the pitch, we just seem to be signing and releasing players all over the place. Perhaps that is the plan...and by chance we might end up with a winning formula.

 

What has happened to Cogger, Atkinson etc.

The next 3 will be the 'easiest' games we'll get until December so 6 or 7 points should be the minimum acceptable (chooses words carefully).

 

Dorchester seem to have discovered a couple of useful Spaniards so will not be any sort of pushover and after that, well, it's all hard work until Dec 7.

Atkinson is at Bishop's Stortford. Don't know about Cogger.

 

As far as signing and releasing players are concerned, we don't appear to have any scouting system at all. We seem to rely upon present players recommending players - Capleton/Marwa, Zoricich/McBreen, Cousins/Walshe etc or going to Peterborough, Orient, Cambridge Utd or Southend. I wonder if we ever take the trouble go out and watch players that we want, rather than accept other teams' cast-offs.

I can see that Cousins-Walshe might be a good combination on the left...but we don't have a really dangerous strike partner for Clarke and the mid-field is very unsettled and seems to depends upon people having "a good day "...what has happened to Southon ?

Why are you all so miserable? As was noticed against Lewes, this season has unbelievably high comdey potential and value.

 

When asked 'where's the current chairman today, he doesn't seem to be at the match...'

I am not miserable, just disappointed, and i don't fancy 10 years in the Southern League North Western Division 3. You clearly don't remember or never knew what it was like playing Tring Town every week for eternity.

I can remember - I was there when city won promotion one year at Epping or some such similar place (which wasn't too bad because at least we were going up). But the drop down was bl0ody bl0ody awful ! Rather similar in fact to what appears to be happening now.

I seem to recall that sometime in the mid-80's on the journey back from oblivion,we had to beat Lewes away to secure promotion ( Isthmian league 2/3 ?)and by 2-3 goals margin, we won 7-1....i was abroad at the time but got through to Lewes, no other way to find out the score in those days, and was told, euphorically, by someone who finally answered the phone that " we won, mate, we won 7-1"....i was despondent,but in his next breath he said "Lewes were never in it"....anyone own up to being the St. Albans fan who answered the phone that late April evening in Sussex long long ago ?
