Enfield Town 0 Leverstock Green 0

Hall, Wright, Negus, Brotherton, Campbell, Hall, Riley, Hall, Kitenge, Everitt, Nyman, Francis, Finch, Masala, Snowden, Baldwin

Any one fancy a game Tuesday night for the town?

After 20 minutes Matty had a shot on Keeper

On 21 minutes the number 10 from Leverstock punched Brad Brothertons lights out with a real jaw breaker. Realising his mate was out cold Rudi Hall intervened and both their 10 and Rudi got their marching orders. Down to 10 men both sides.

A few minutes later Masala came on for Brotherton

After half an hour Chopper was at his best to save a shot.

On 32 minutes Matty was chopped down and Deano took a freekick.

There was plent of injuries in the first half but the ref gave no injury time.

Francis came on at half time for an injured Graeme Hall.

Mid second half Busby Finch came on for another injured Kevin Riley.

Deano then got booked agin for a second yellow.

Were any Leverstock Green players booked for all this no just Town players. Was this ref a one way ref most definitely.

Mid-second half the ref gave them chance after chance arround our box but they were not up to the challenge!

So for those keeping count 3 players off very definitely injured, 2 sent off for the town. They came they did a job and the ref helped them!

They came to spoil and win if they could but they were not that good.

Do I fancy our chances Tuesday night not if we have a ref like this again! Poor isn't an adequate word to describe him!

LG did not create chances but they prevented us from doing so!

Sounds awful.

Obviously I wasn't there but it sounds as though our discipline still needs to be improved. If THEY are constantly offending then THEY should have players booked and sent off. Retaliation may be understandable but must be stamped out whatever the provocation, it sounds like it meant we finished with nine men and thus their tactics worked.

Keep the faith Town and let our football do the argueing.

Stop [****!!****] whingeing you tossers...It was a draw..you cannot change the result..if the ref [****!!****] up then he [****!!****] up..Make the most of and win the replay...You lot get worse by the week...moaning and thinking you have a divine right to win every game.. God, do I hope you are stuck with us next season and still ground sharing.

I understand one or two of your guys came close to a slap the other night..You are lucky it was midweek and not a Saturday...could have been very interesting.....

cannot wait for the re-match...by the way, another seasonally adjusted attendance? And if you have that many season ticket holders why are they continually boycotting your home games...

By the way. you cannot whack an injury time winner at Basildon!!!!!!!!

Spitting at a player and an injured player being punched when he was down (when they dont know the full story)being justified to them shows how low they are, lets hope they get the low league position they deserve.

It is just part of the culture of some clubs. Sad really!

What a awful game of football.

The ref was typical 'local ref for local people' type. As he was Leverstocks local ref, you'll understand our anger with him.

Firstly let me say that it is his fault entirely that the game turned nasty. He let at least 8 vicious 'studs in' or 'through the back' fouls go unpunished in the first 1/2 hour (6 from leverstock and 2 from ETFC).

This was a green light (to the leverstock players in particular) that it was going to be an ANYTHING GOES short of game.Only late on in the first half did he decide to book a player from each team. The bookings were given against probably the two least bookable challenges of the half (sometimes you just want to scream). Nyman harshly recieved one of the yellows.

The player that got sent off was a discrace. Firstly he put in a bad tackle on Brotherton, badly hurting his leg. Then whilst Brotherton was laying under him incapable of defending himself, the leverstock player then grabs Brothertons hair and puches him in the face.

The melay after could technacally have seen 4 or 5 sent off as plenty of arms were raised. In that melay Rudi kicked the offending Leverstock player on the arm, after the player was pushed to the ground. Even though it was only a light tap by Rudi, he DID kick him and technically it was a red card offence. But his actions were so much less serious that what the Leverstock player did, it seems unfair that they should recieve the same punishment.

Anyway the second half (and the ref)were again dire. The only notible incident was the sending off of Nyman for a second bookable (backchat i presume). As some players on the pitch had committed a hatfull of bookasble offences and got away with them, makes it even more frustrating.

To sum up,due to injuries Town finished the game with the weakest side they have fielding for a long time. They were also playing the weakest side they have faced for a long time. The combining of the two, produced a very flat game.

Just a final note on the ref. Even though there were a least 5 substitutions made throughout the game,on at least 4 occasions the physio's were on the pitch for lenghy periods AND there were long delays whilst he sent 3 players off. HE didn't add on one second of injury time in either half. <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Even I'm now starting to get fed up with the seemingly incessant whinging at referees from a handful of ETFC supporters.

LS, looking at the FA's appointments list for yesterday, I notice that the referee lives in Aylesbury (quite some distance from Leverstock Green) and is not a Spartan South Midlands League official. He can, therefore, in no way be described as Leverstock Green's "local" referee. As this is given as the main reason why we should understand your anger then, sorry, but I don't understand.

Personally, I don't think our referee did us any favours yesterday and we have a long midweek replay journey as a result. But I felt that the decisions given were honest ones, even the incorrect ones, and you can't really ask for a ref to be any more than honest.

Do you feel your referee was dishonest yesterday, LS? From what I have read, perhaps he did let too much go too early but he probably handled the game in the manner he thought best at the time. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but completely useless in such circumstances.

At the end of the day, you are still in the Cup and playing at a ground where PBT won comfortably last weekend. If you play to your best form, you should get through.

Even though both Aylesbury and Leverstock Green are both on the A41, i accept that technically he is not 'local'. Let's just say that his style of reffing suited leverstock's style of play.

At the end of the day we are still in the cup.But we now have two players facing suspentions,at least a couple of players seriously injured, and we've now got an away game in the cup midweek. All of which could have been avoided if we would have a had a more competent official yesterday.

Whilst we're on about yesterdays game.May i congratulate Roy, frank (and the weather) for turning the pitch into a lush grass covered playing surface. Having said that, maybe's there now too much grass on the pitch.

The grass for the last two home games has been far too long. I know this is probably down to the fact that so many games are being played on the pitch in the next couple of weeks, and longer grass may preserve the suface somewhat, but it desparatly needs a cut. Players were constantly getting the ball stuck under their feet yesterday (especially Masala in the second half.)
