Margate vs. Eastbourne

Probably our 'strongest' team.

At least no -one playing out of position.

Another tall central defender and a couple of quality midfield players and we should be able to hold our own in the league.

Whilst not brilliant, at least Gradley has some positional sense in midfield

A fair result, we had most of the posession and chances and should have made the game safe much earlier. Very entertaining match. All the players played their socks off. Darren Annon I thought was outstanding today, but I could not really fault any of the guys.

An Eastbourne fan on the way out remarked to me that the result was no more than we deserved - very gentlemanly comment and absolutely right.

[color:"blue"] It was touch & go though as to whether we'd score - looked like being 'one of those days' when we just couldn't put the ball away.

Have to say Eastbourne were very weak, we might not have been so lucky against a better side.

player by player I'd say:

Gottskalksson: Not much to do, had an air of authority & took a couple of crosses well. Unsighted for goal.

Oates: Played as a winger rather than a full back - looked strong and assured.

Green: Came forward a lot, involved in a few penalty area incidents (their area), lacked that finishing touch.

Edwards: Sharing defensive duties with just Barnett & Annon. Had little to worry about.

Barnett: Great goal from edge of the penalty area (follow-up after half cleared corner). Assured in defence.

Annon: Typical Annon game, he was there when needed without you realising(a good sign IMO).

Keister: MOM - ran the show, tireless display.

Gradley: Playing forward created a few chances that on other days, would just roll in.

Stadhart: Tireless effort, you have to feel sorry for him - he needs to net a few & he'd be such a different player.

Baptiste: Worked well with Che, created a lot - but again missing that final touch. (even his goal nudged in off the post).

Clarke: Created a lot of chances, especially from dead ball situations. Worked hard.
