Player of the month?

I noticed in the Tonbridge Angels Programme that they have a supporters player of the month competition. Would this be something that we could do or want to do as a club?

Well it is certainly something the mods could arrange on the forum although I understand that everytime a poll gets put up barely anyone responds.

In all seriousness though for the Harrow game, a motm poll was set up and there were 17 votes. Is that a true reflection of the numbers that read the forum?

 

I think if we were to do a player of the month it would be easier to organise on here than through a "paper" vote.

How about the trust awarding Steve Daly for his outstanding contribution and loyalty to the REBELS playing 200 games for the club

It might be depressing, but 17 votes may not be an unreasonable expectation.

 

There are relatively few regular posters who contribute to this forum, and the only posters who can sensibly contribute to a poll will be those who attended the match. Inevitably there will be a percentage of the forum posters who cannot attend the match, and a very much larger percentage of those that do attend the match who do not look up the forum. So I think we should not expect large voting figures for any polls placed on here.

I believe there are others like myself who read fans forum almost daily but rarely post anything,

having said that, Steve Daly must be No 1 candidate.

Yeah it makes sense. I am not hugely disappointed with 17 votes. Perhaps if we were to adopt a player of the month poll we would have to advertise it at matches in order to get some of those who don't come on here regualrly or at all to actually have a vote. Having said that it may not get arranged so it is all academic really.

 

I like the idea of awarding Daly something for 200 games. Perhaps a trust member would like to donate something.....

When I went to Wycombe a few times last year they put a piece of paper in the programme for a vote. Last year when the trust were voting for their player of the year we had the table and pieces of paper with a ballot box just inside the gate, which worked quite well. A player of the month vote from everyone wouldn't take so much effort as you wouldn't have to sign off trust member's names; you could just have people handing out pieces of paper at the gate and then fans just drop them in a box. Could work quite well as it would get a lot more people voting than a forum vote, for example.

Don't you have to be logged on to vote as well? This could be a factor if true.
