Mixed feelings

Another 3 points. How pleased am I <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I think we can expect every team we play to raise their game. The Wealdstone program described us as, Professionals, Full time, and having a Mammoth wage bill.

That’s their team talk right there.

So we can expect a hard battling season.

The difference this season is that the opposition will want to get a point, and nick three if possible. Where as last season they all expected to get the three points and play us off the park

Our opposition know this season is different, we can play football.

So first and foremost, they will attempt to stop us playing, and because of that, we will have a number of scrappy games.

But our team is fit, our team is strong, our team will play for the full 90+ mins and our team believe they will win. They have thus far proved that.

SO..... What about our supporters?

I was a little disappointed with some supporters last night. They seem to be in "last season mode."

I heard individual Billericay players being abused, (called w***er, and get him off, he'f f**ing usless etc)different players by different people.

I saw the body language of disgust, and heard the comments when we went 2-1 down.

This in a game when we twice, yes twice, went behind, and still won..

Come on guys, this is a new era, lets not abuse our own players, they will get enough of that from the oppo.

Lets remember this win, and how we can score 2 goals in the last 5. Be positive, trust me, our team will need you to help them raise their game.

When/if we go behind, and you give full vocal support, the chance of us going on to win will increase, but if you abuse and criticise. the chance will diminish.

Of course we will all have our opinion of who played well, and who had a howler, and of course we will discuss these points over a beer after the game, and quite rightly so.

But when our team is on the playing surface, lets stand united in our support for them, lets be top of the supporters league as well.

Question...Does any one know the last time we went behind twice in a League game and won?

Well against Beford a couple of seasons ago, we went 3 down and came back to win 4 - 3. Our performance in the second half was awesome and really down to one man Justin Gentle, a player much maligned by gary calder and Geroge Borg.

As for myself, my rant at the ref was most unbecoming and not one I wish to repeat...frustration got the better but that is no excuse.

I agree that we should get behind the team and to a degree mebbe some supporters (including me) got a bit carried away once or twice. But it's very frustrating when we know we have a good side and then see them fail to perform. Indeed it is to our credit that we kept going to the end and managed to nick the win which I think everyone would agree was completely undeserved. There will be occasions when we play much better and get much less so let's just take the points and move on hopefully to a better performance at Yeading (with the same result natch).

Unless my brain was completely befuddled by ale the last time we twice came back from going behind to win was only last May against Northwood. 1-0 down after 10 seconds. 3-3 and half time. 4-3 to them before we won 5-4...Does that bit of trivia mean I'm forgiven then TC?

Good spot jl....

My favourite 'ricay comeback is still Carshalton a few seasons ago. We had some kid playing goal (Reed?) who got sent off and with no sub keeper Dave Culverhouse had to go in goal. We were 1-0 and 3-1 down but somehow Colin Simpson, playing like a man posessed, scored a couple and we drew 3-3. Simmo's celebrations were truly memorable as well as he lainched himself over the hoardings into the travelling support!

Football IS frustrating, it stirs our emotions, that's why we love it. Nowt wrong with getting carried away.

But, we shouldn't be abusing our own.

If we are fortunate enough to keep winning on a consistent basis, then whenever we go behind, we will automatically expect to go on and win.

I just feel last night some people were in last season mode....which was an expectation of loss, and to lay blame on our team or individuals and hurl abuse at them before the final result.......

...... A bit like a linesman flagging for a throw in before the ball is out of play.

I just know that a positive, vocal, supportive crowd, will help the team, which in turn will help the results, and that, would make us all happy.

After the Bedford game, I think we then didn't win a match after being behind until Heybridge away last season! So when we do fall behind, the feeling that we'll get back in front isn't always forth-coming!! I think this season expectations have hit the roof. We want out of this league so we don't have to visit dogholes of the sort we went to last night. I don't think player commitment or effort could be faulted and it is to their credit that they kept plugging away. Nobody wants to give their own players stick, and the few comments made last night (not guilty!) were probably bourne out of sheer frustration.

Look...it,s not a big deal....I am only trying to move this club onwards and upwards.

Any small improvements we make along our merry Ryman journey will help build a stronger BTFC.

I am well aware of the difficulty in forgetting last season, that's why I pointed it out.

Lets hope we all enjoy our trip to Yeading, I can smell another point or three.

Please dont mention the Carshalton game, I had to leave 'on time' as we were returning back for a party. Due to the sending off etc the game was finishing late so we had to go after the 90 minutes were up and missed the injury time.

My celebration was therefore more of complete shock when I got home and discovered the final score, I therefore missed one of the all time great comebacks!

Well I for one one see you getting very frustrated with many a ref fairly often.

Yeah but not like that. I actually walked round to have a go at him!!! I have never done that. Unbecoming.
