Any idea who David Rand, John Drabwell, William Kellock, Micky Hunter and Tommy Coleman are?

 

Answer: They are the five managers of SACFC who have actually got a worse record than Steve Castle.

 

For the statisticians among you, Steve C is 37th out of 42 managers we've had at the club in terms of points won per game. His average is 0.92

I was gonna go for five new players signed from Sun Sports, Clapton, East Ham Utd reserves and two from the team from pitch 16 down Hackney Marshes respectively.

 

0.92? It's not that bad. Nearly a point a game. Not too many at Clarence Park though, come to think of it.

Indeed, GHA. At that rate, we could amass an incredible 38 points this season. I would happily bet anyone it will be less than that, actually.

Only two of those five managers have lasted beyond 25 games, obviously being dispensed of by the chairman before too much damage was done.

Stevie C has had 36 league games in charge. 19 of those have been lost.

SC is taking JG for a ride. How many other managers recieve two year contracts after finishing 19th in the league, only beating relegation due to two 'play-off' finals? Those were no finals, they were battles to the death, and thankfully we are alive, despite recieving seven blows along the way. Besides, we are as good as dead, alongside where Bedford are now, anyway. 'Players won't sign whilst my future's in the balance?' What absolute tosh and nonsense. This club is on a downward slope covered in all manner of slippery materials. There should of been a complete overhaul at the end of the last dismal season, with widescale changes. This has not happened and now look at the club. The 'mighty Saints' have lost two-nil to a works team from Stansted airport, and no-one really seems to care. Oh Lord, I must have some booze. I demand to have some booze.

I think Dave Rand was only a "caretaker" manager at some point.He was a director of the club and ran what is now the big Toyota garage in Frogmore,very nice man. Drabwell was a mistake in that he had been successful at Cheshunt or somewhere but couldn't step up and Hunter came from Boreham Wood so that was never going to work....Coleman i remember very clearly, he brought half the Walthamstow Avenue side with him, the wrong half.He was sacked mid-season after a game Carshalton, how anout that for an omen?

Speaking of ex-managers, a good shout came from former supremo Garry Hill, just after the lights came back on. As Castle was walking back towards the bench, and the team were starting to come out.
