Apologies for the lack of live updates/SMS messages - quite simply the technology is in place (and working) - but both Rob & I are struggling to do two or three things at once.

 

We therefore need a third person, who can work alongside us, and assist in sending out the SMS's, doing the live updates, and other roles etc.

 

I realise that we have made this appeal before - but so far have not had much response.

 

Hopefully I will do half time & full time updates (at least) at Carshalton & Cambridge.

Thank heavens for Max & Lurchin for the last few games, because Sky Sports and the BBC's services are A1 [****!!****]. Look forward to the Carshalton & Cambridge ones.

btw....can anyone tell me how Sky & the Beeb etc get the score updates and results from games. Is it from independent reporters or from a club's official source? They are not receiving ours until hours after the match.

For the first few games [and as I seem to be laying here doing nowt] I e-mailed Talk Sport and the Beeb sports desks with our score updates [just to see if they took any notice]...and they ignored me. <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

BBC Essex seem to be ignoring us altogether and are concentrating on Canvey, Colchester and Sarfend. Perhaps we are deemed "not Essex enough"...but then, strangely, have given over air time for West Ham matches <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Very dissapointed over the media's coverage of Conf south, I must say. Got more chance of Britney Spears giving me a bedbath than of getting Urchins' scores through the usual outlets. <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
Come to think of it, there's no probs getting Ryman updates, so p'raps someone's buggering the right arses somewhere.

Okay - Sky & BBC 1 etc., all get the results from the PA (Press Association). The PA is phoned by the match secretary usually at half time and full time with scorers, attendance & result etc.

 

BBC Essex should be giving out our goals almost as they go in - however this will be on 95.3FM & 1530MW only (I think they give 765MW over to the West Ham games (not sure why)). I believe they cannot break into the West Ham coverage with results - so basically do not listen to that game - choose the Southend Game to be sure. If they are not giving the goals out on the Southend Game, please let me know. I phone through the goals as they go in. On Saturday I called them 8 times!!!

 

As most people know, I send out very regular press releases - usually one or two a week (or as often as I get info from the club <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ) and I am pushing all the time for wider press coverage.

 

It would be nice to get into the Evening Echo, as many of our fans read it - I do send press release to their sports desk - so you never know.

 

If people can think of any media sources that cover the Hornchurch/Upminster areas, that do not have coverage of Hornchurch, please do let me know.

 

Some 40 media outlets already get the press releases - but am more than willing to be told of those I have missed.

I was listening to the commentary of the Canvey game on Saturday on 1530 MW and there was no mention of the Hornchurch goals. You had to wait 10 minutes either side of half and full time to get the result!!!

 

They were more interested in what was happening at Grays Ath and Great Wakering!!
