And also, why is a bra called a bra? It is a singular word? There are 2 bras, and therefore it shouldn't be singular. It is also like Sheep. That is plural, but there isn't a singular word for one sheep.

No. Trousers have two legs but they're not called legs, are they? 'Bra' is short for 'brassiere'. A brassiere doesn't refer just to the cups. It is the whole garment.

 

And there is a singular word for 'sheep'. It's 'sheep'. Like 'fish' is both singular and plural.

Well you say a pair if there is more than one ie: 2, but you are only wearing one pant, or one knicker, so how can it be a pair? I mean if yo wear a pair of socks, it's because there are 2 of them!!!!!!

What's that got to do with a bra being called 'a bra' rather than a 'pair of bras'?

 

A bra secures ones bosom, or chest, Claire.

 

Why would it need to be called a pair??

 

Trousers are called 'a pair of trousers' because each leg is referred to as a 'trouser'. Singular. Hence, "he ripped his trouser pocket", or "there's a rip in his left trouser".
