8 OUT OF 15

So ETFC's future could be decided by the toss of a coin.???

Make no mistake if ETFC win the ESL (again) this season, and don't get promoted (again). It could well be a 'nail in the coffin' for the club. It may well be one knockback too many, and one that the club may never recover from.

Many fans follow ETFC in the hope and belief that the club can once again return top flight non-league football to the borough. If those fans think that all the future holds for ETFC is minor league football, the crowds will dwindle, and the club will stagnate.

It is VITAL ETFC get promted if they win the ESL this season, and we must be 'ahead of the game' in making sure we have the best chance possible of doing that.

Having said that, there will be some teams (Hopefully at least 7) who will win their respective leagues, but either fail to meet ground criteria or choose not to accept promation.

i think it is totally unfair that a team that wins their respective league and are in a position (ie facilities) to be promoted would not be! what is the point of playing, that is what we are all striving for.

i do believe town have the edge on most clubs as you are an attractive proposition as you get more fans than other clubs at a much higher level and that is a great credit to you.

however this should not be the case. it should be as simple as if you have the grading and you win your league you get promoted.

i would hope it would not be the end of town if they were refused promotion and i dont think it would be although you could lose a few fans.

i hope whoever wins the esl this season get promotion and go onto great success.

There have never been more than 7 or 8 teams moving up from this level of football in recent years and I don't think the FA are expecting it to be any different this time around.

Of course, there could be a quirky year where 12-15 champion clubs have the facilities and the finances but I'm sure the FA will have thought of that...won't they?

Play-Offs can be the only answer to a 15=8 situation but how can things be changed when the season's started, unless the good old FA come out with the idea at their next meeting... can't wait for a Potters Bar Town v Enfield Town play Off for the Southern League in May ! I'll pop over the fence for that one , unless its at a neutral ground or Home and away - Questions, questions .. bet LC knows the answer !

The season has only just started and according to lovely stuff it could be the nail in the coffin if ETFC win the league and do not get promoted!

Talk about being pessimistic!

He/she also says that 'we must be ahead of the game in making sure we have the best chance possible of doing that'. Well, the best thing you can do is get down to the ground on Sundays and assist with the work the hard core of supporters carry out each week.

We have the grading for a higher standard of football but we cannot afford to leave it at that. That's why the chosen few on Sunday had to cut the grass, mark out the pitch, clean the changing rooms all before the ETFC Ladies turned up to play Chelsea! Was it their responsibility to do all this? No! But then someone had to do it.

Maybe you can help next Sunday?

How about putting yourself forward for a position on the board and seeing just how much work goes unrecognised? Applications need to be in soon.

When people turn up at 5 to kick-off they dont realise the little jobs that get done, not just on match days but at other times, just to get a team onto the pitch and afterwards when they have gone home.

There are loads of other things that we need help with, but unfortunately it is always the same people that offer.

What people must remember is that it is "OUR CLUB" & should be run by "US"

If anybody has any spare tame on Match days before the game please turn up early as we will always find you something to do. Also maybe stay a short while after the final whistle as your help is needed then.

Anyone fancy running the Pontoon then, if you do see me tonight in the Boardroom.

I am not really getting on my Soapbox, but I am sure some people think there is a Magic Fairy thats gets the ground ready for a game. WRONG, it is a LOYAL BAND OF HELPERS. Come & Join us!!! YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU.

How many questions can you answer?

Who cuts the grass?

Who lines the pitch?

Who clears away all the rubbish from the pitch?

Who clears the rubbish away from the surrounding areas?

Who puts out the rubbish bins which sometimes stand idle?

Who cleans out the changing rooms?

Who opens up the ground and checks to see if all is well?

Who puts up and takes down the goals?

Who provides first aid cover?

Who makes sure ETFC have got a clean and prepared kit?

Who provides the board room and team's refreshments?

Who co-ordinates the club's income generating schemes?

Who collects the gate money?

Who processes the income?

Who tends to get to the ground early and is always the last to leave?

Have you scored 8 out of 15? And that's just for starters!

Thing is that you Towners have got too much hard work behind you to let something like a non promotion finish you off.

You'll pick yourselves up, dust yourselves down and start all over again. Now where have I heard those words before?

Look at the ups and downs we at Romford have had since our reformation in 1992 and we're still battling through. And you'll do the same if you get knocked down.

So less of the defeatist talk and here's looking forward to the match of the season this evening as usual with the best team winning. But a draw would send everyone home happy I feel!

It's going to be a tough old season!!

Andy, there are a few things & people that you have forgotten, but lets not split hairs, what I was getting at was just how many un-sung heros there and the fact that so many people just turn up on a match day to purely watch the game expecting it all to be done. Understand?

I never said Roy was a Magic Fairy.
