They were discussing this on GMTV (my station of choice since the demise of RI:SE!!) this morning, and Andrew Castle and Kate Garroway were being all gay and sympathetic like a couple of scarfers.

 

Then someone emailed in and said what a disgrace that she didn't complete the race, and that she let Britain down, and they got all indignant about it.

 

Reminds me of the time, back in 1994 when Emma Freud was doing the lunchtime show on Radio One.

 

They were having a discussion about cutting crime and stuff, encouraging people to phone in and fax (no emails then!). Someone faxed in saying that all you need to do is bring back the death penalty and it'll sort things out.

 

Freud dismissed it totally, almost laughing and saying "well, I don't think faxes like that are what we need", and went straight onto the next one.

 

Stupid bitch.

did enjoy watching Steve Cram, Seb Coe and Steve Ovett in the studio yesterday, having a chat.

 

GB athletics was strong then..and these three fellas were a particular inspiration for me...as without them I would have long given up my morning run to the offie for my Golden Virginia and book of green Rizla.
