The Moments That Matteres

First Half

1. Maidenhead denied a clear penalty when Ibe takes advantage of Mautones first screw up only to be pulled back

2. Jarvis commits atrocious foul in front of the stand, maybe lucky its only a yellow card

2. Maidenhead take the lead through Channell who sneaks in to score from a corner whilst Mautone argues with two defenders about which post they should be on

3. Barnard pulls of an absolutely fantastic save from a free kick

Second Half

1. Channell causes confusion again between Mautone and his defence and Ibe slots in the resulting loose ball

2. Jarvis makes it 3-0 with a header from a free kick

Maidenhead 3-0 up and cruising against a woeful Slough team with no heart in stark contrast to the spirited Windsor team we played and were lucky to beat at this stage last year. So Maidenhead generously sit back and allow Slough back into the game.

3. McPherson gets one back for Slough with a great header

4. Barnard watches a speculative Slough effort hit the bar and go over

5. Referee gives indirect free kick for obstruction by Jarvis in the corner by the car park.

6. Referee runs to dug out to administer Maidenhead double substitution but only half completes it before rushing back to the penalty area to sort out some pushing & shoving, then after a couple of abortive attempts completes the substitution, whistles for play to continue but forgetting to raise his arm to remind players that its indirect. Slough score direct from the kick so its disallowed

7. Referee gives Slough a dubious penalty (according to Gary the Slough fan!) which is converted

8. After a fair amount of injury time its game over and Maidenhead reach their fourth B&B final in five seasons

Overall verdict: Maidenhead go through a lot less comfortably than it looked like being after the hour mark but at last a victory after so many defeats. Slough looked even worse than last year and are going nowhere until they get players that want to play for 90 minutes and get stuck in when the conditions aren't perfect (which they never will be in Div One or at York Rd).

A few points.
1. You are forgetting the challenge by Jarvis on Bartley just after he dived in by the stand. He was the last man and so should have got a straight red, let alone a second yellow.

2. If the referee does not have his arm up when the kick is taken then the goal should be given or the free-kick at least re-taken. There is no way the ball should have gone straight back to Maidenhead.

3. Morley was also lucky not to see red in the incident with Winston where he elbowed him. Also as the foul was given for that offence then the free-kick was direct.

4. The referee by no means added on the full allocation of time at the end. The incident with Rake going off etc, etc, took well over five minutes alone, and the ref only added four or five on.
Overall you are right that Slough did not perform for most of the match but the fact is that certain decisions, big decisions, could have made a big difference and Slough would have had at least a draw at the end of ninety minutes, WHETHER WE DESERVED IT OR NOT!!!!!
