Seasons most telling result Erith 0 Barton Rovers

I see Erith and B lost 4-0 yesterday to Barton Who.

Week before i think they lost 5-1.

 

Now ok it was only a friendly, but we struggled to beat Erith and B and certainly did not dominate.

 

I have no other hopes for this season other than to retain conf. south status, but currently ,i think that is seriously threatened .

i base that not on results, but performances.

 

In midfield we lack the basic quality in one position.All the pre-season training in the world will not improve that.

The defence maybe can be improved a bit with practise, but it is worrying when Green is by far our best defender, Barnett is just about ok, but the combination of Annon, Edwards and Barnett is not working,and greg is playing in no mans land and has lost a yard of pace.

We do not have Smithy to cover up the mistakes this year.

Overall the defence looks static, slow, laboured and lacking in height-Barnett cannot cover everthing and is not that good in air anyway.

 

Again , i have no expectations apart from Conf. south survival, but i have serious concerns for that, unless defence and midfield is strengthened quick.

I just hope that resources can be found from somewhere to improve those two positions, and CK can pluck a couple of strong-physically and mentally- players on a shoestring from lower leagues like Green

MM perhaps it could be the lack of match fittness that we are lacking,at least I hope so.
