Maidenhead 3-2 Slough

How gutted am I? - Very!!, but what a last half hour.
Thay go 1-0 up through Channell at half-time, when our only real shot came from a Gilkes free kick saved by old Ginger in the Maidenhead goal.
We did not come out for the second half and a stupid mix up between Mauts and Daly saw us concede a sloppy second.
That plank Jarvis - who was more interested in winding Slough fans up that playing (Not use to big crowds at Burnham you see...) scored a header.
Then we suddenly wake up. Browne moves Daly up front - Takes Gilkes and Roach off and puts Gallacher and Junior on.
That seemed to wake us up - Sammy seemed like a new player up front and chased for everything and Daly caused them problems in the air and Kieran gave us good width on the right.
Macca scores a header - 3-1, a mere consolation?
But then Gallagher scores from a free kick with ten minutes left - however ruled out for either handball or indirect (anyone clear it up?)
Anywat with two minutes left Sammy wins a penalty which Ullers converts.
Then deep in injury time the ball agonisingly went across the six yard box three times with only a touch needed for an equaliser. So FRUSTRATING!
Anyway it seemed another heavy defeat - but the Slough players showed character in the end and after taking 60 minutes to work out how to play in the 'mudpit' they battled well.
In truth though they lost the game by playing poorly for the first 60 minutes
Just a note on the support - Did not hearmuch from Maidenhead?

Can understand that free kick was indirect, but ref did not have his hand up AND gave the goal before confronted by Maidenhead players who reminded him it was indirect. THAT is not right! It was probably Rake f***ing about when he was getting substituted. Also, how did we only have five minutes of added time, when the previous incident took over five minutes on it's own. Berks and Bucks rubbish! mad.gif" border="0

Just had a chance to catch up with all of the 'fallout' from Tuesday night.
Thought it was as good a cup tie as you're going to get on the quagmire and also nice to see you not blaming the pitch for the defeat;-)
Mainly thoughtful messages on here with large doses of realism but the fact that there are so few postings on both message boards shows how far this competition has fallen in both club's eye's. Perhaps the pathetic posturings of the B&B officials and the fact that the likes of Reading can't even be bothered to enter underlines the fact. Steve's pertinant points of the match highlights are spot on.
Anyway I digress. I take issue with the fact that we were awful. For a team with 7 defeats in the last 8 you must have felt that we were there for the taking. I certainly did yet 3-0 with 20 to go was fully justified. Until the ball stopped completely rolling in the 2nd half we played it around as well as we could and you were all over the place.
Slough never cease to amaze me. Your player pic's read like a who's who of non-league football yet the sum total of the parts is so much less than the individuals. The Browne factor perhaps? I would argue that we're the opposite which is why we probably won, even though the loss of 'hoofer' Cookie has for me damaged our club spirit terribly.
A couple of asides. I was genuinely surprised and pleased to see/hear the support you lot gave your team. You've usually been like a load of mutes.
As for us, well it's been a weird season and most just want it to be over. I think that showed in our lack of support on the night. Most fans aren't overly bothered about the competition which is perhaps a sign of how we've developed.
A group of the hardcore fans aren't even going to the final as we're away on a lads weekend in Barcelona, booked last year, even though we knew that it clashed with the final.
I presume that some of you were holding up scorecards on the Rakey diving? Excellent, sort of humour we like. Couldn't read the little sign behind the goal though.
Keep stirring up the passion.
BROWNE OUT!
