i am going to upset a lot of people by starting this topic but my personal opinion of him is that pre season and the opening 3 games of this season he has been absolute crap!!i look on this forum and see nothing but praise for him but he is not the player he was last year and plays as if he really don't care.Today on many occassions he done nothing even at one stage watched a dorchester player do keep me ups on the touchline without even so much of a tackle even tho he was less than a yard away wake up rock. IF YOU REALLY ARE NOT GOING TO GIVE US YOUR ALL THEN GET LOST!!!,even leon at his worst was playing better than the [***!!***] you keep playing every game!! <img src="/images/graemlins/megaphon.gif" alt="" />

Never thought Rocky was the world beater he was made out to be.

Scored in his early games and then the goals dried up,as have done this season.

He was nearing his best yesterday ,beating players with his ball control.

 

He is not a superstar-we have put him on to high a pedestal-but he is a good player ,esp. in this league.

We have to be realistic in our expectations.

Problem is that he and CHe are similar players.They play well together, but they are not out and out goalpoachers.

Difficult to know what to do here.IMO Pulman definately not the answer.

We do need a different type of striker-Watson type to give us an alternative.

 

In meantime, answer to me is SORT OUT AND STRENGTHEN THE DEFENCE-thats the problem area.

 

You start all games with a point, and if you do not concede, then you get a point.Score 3 ,and you can still lose .

I agree with the above. A couple of weeks ago we were all desparate to keep Rocky. He has become a bit of a talisman for us. He is certainly the best and most experienced striker we have got, and do not forget he also is a goal maker and quite unselfish in that respect. The two out of three games I have seen his work rate has been magnificent and skill obvious. The whole team needs to gel a bit more but I believe goals are there and we will see them.

Everyone has an off day, I have many, give the guy a break.

When Rocky hits the net it will boost him,forwards some times dry up as long as he keeps getting serivce,the fans behind him,not slaging him off the goals will come.

Think biggest problem is that Rocky and Che are not all out goalscorers.

We have for last 3 seasons been a team who have relied on goals from all the players.

Problem is that goals from Sam, Jay and Porter will not be forthcoming this year, so we need more from the front two.

Barnett might score some and I think Clarke and Keister might score more at a lower level

Agree ,but they also scored last year, so overall, we have 'lost' 3 'scorers' and agree that possibly gained one in Barnett

Its not the way the team stand up 2 the oppersition its the finishing thats letting us down. Rocky is a good player but takes 2 many chances when there are better options, anyone who has been 2 all 3 games this season will have noticed he's taking defenders on every time. The difference between previous seasons & now is that we used 2 make their defence run around & get out of position where as now they get the ball off us & by then we've pushed up & get caught on the counter-attack.

 

Not saying that Rocky is rubbish but think we should try someone else in his position 4 a game & see if i'm talking pish or have a valid point, either that or get him to play support on occasion 2 the players around him for a change.

 

Try Pulman as he was always good at spotting open players & sneaking the ball 2 them, saying that I saw him with the subs during half time as Goal Keeper & think he should be given a chance between the sticks as was better than our 1st choice on Sat.

 

Roll on Tuesday & hope we have a better show as was painfull on Saturday 2 watch the game!!!

In my opinion Rocky looks nothing short of disinterested. This MAY be down to injury/lack of fitness/ unsteady balance because of the new hairstyle but I feel he may just want to be at a bigger club, hence the fact he is only (apparently) on a week to week contract.

On Saturday there was a corner in the second half, at 0-1, where he just casually strolled to his spot on the near post, almost without a care in the world.
