1-1 tonight

Yes it was a bit. Not our best performance today but you cannot win every game.

Tonbridge never looked like scoring today so we gave them a penalty (which was well taken). Dave McSweeney scored for us on the rebound after Danny H had hit the bar.

Again we had the most possession but something did not quite work in midfield today. Nicky Wetner made his debut on the left of midfield, I think this will be a hotly contested position in the next few weeks with a few players vying for this place.

Never mind we remain undefeated and still have not scored in the first half yet!

I'd agree it wasn't our best performance but Tonbridge didn't really have a lot. Our problem was that we either over hit crossess or under hit passess and these are problems that can be ironed out.

In the first part of the first half we were unlucky not to have two or three, our defence was rock solid and midfield was winning everything. Like all Dr. Martin (okay ex Dr. Martin) sides, they were physical and they hassled us but that was it. We just didn't find our rythm and that was another issue. On Tuesday we did, yesterday we didn't. Remember, despite our pre seasons, we do have quite a few new players in the team and it takes a few games for everyone to click. We still looked the most likely to take all three points.

I would've loved to have had a chat to the ref concerning the rules of the game. Isn't it obstruction if a forward pushes the ball forward to run on to and the oppo defender crossess in front of him and prevents him from continuing? How may times did their defenders do that when Danny would've been clear through? And how many times did they get the throw ins wrong? Jeez, the standard of match officials are getting worse. On Tuesday the poor bugger in the middle couldn't even keep up with the game!!! The one yesterday just made up the rules as he went along. Okay he wasn't the worse I've seen but still....

Funny old game football. Tash said there was a old Tonbridge guy down where he was watching the game shouting that "Billericay were cr*p"" - lol. Should've pointed out that their first reall attack happened just before half time, so who is he calling c**p!!! And when we did click, they were also rans and knew it (hence the spoiling tactics).

No, Tonbridge are nothing and when we get to play 'em again at their gaff all our niggly problems will be ironed out and then they'll reap a Blue and White goal whirlwind!!!

Tough game, they packed the midfield and stopped us playing. Thought we maybe lacked a bit of pace in attack at times, missed Quistin a bit in that respect. Good to see McSweeney get a goal, he always looks a threat at corners. Cousins available on Tuesday, reckon he should replace Gavin (assuming he's injured)

Speaking of the c**p ref, i thought it was a little harsh when he blew for half and full time. At full time we had just won a corner, and at full time we had possession in their penalty box. I dont know if theres a specific rule, but i thought it was just playing ball to wait for some innocuous passage of play to blow the whistle?

I could swear i already posted on this thread, but it hasnt appeared. Despite my initial disappointment after the game (which is only natural having led and not won), we are still looking in very good shape. The performances from most players have been generally very encouraging, good support, still unbeaten, and conceded no goals from open play. Shame im not gonna be able to catch many more games.

Tunbridge were obviously in awe of what was in front of them and as such bottled it and set their stall out for a point. The only chance they had of scoring was if we gifted it to 'em. Unfortunatley that is exactly what we did. Pitiful away support, 25 at the most.

Boys boys obviously rose tinted specs are standard wear in Essex as well as Burberry.

Ryan c no we werent in awe of you -merely suffering from a few injuries.

Simon -the midfield was 3 players as usual with 2 wingbacks not quite packing the midfield

pitsea pete -learn to spell

Billericay Blue -hmm we kicked the sh1t out of you did we? Did you miss the awful tackle that nearly broke our guys leg ?

and moving on to the ref at last we all agree -he was diabolical- how can you justify booking our no 5 for holding back Bradley Petulant Allen yet not even speak to the no4 who gave away the penalty ? I thought last man got sent off not ignored ?

And apparently hitting a guys hand with your face is a bookable offence as our no 9 found out. That guy was ahomer through n through although I agree with Gazza that a defender blocking a forward should be obstruction but you'll never see it given . Your no 4 was throwing in blocks they would be proud of in the NFL.

All in all you may have been the slightly better team -as one would expect with well paid full timers -very impressed by no 7 - but your defence is dire 4 and 5 are donkeys - and Allen ddnt impress me much either though Hockton looks very useful.

Show some respect to a team that defended well- you may just have seen the best goalie in the league in action- with a squad much smaller and weakened by injury ..Oh and PS gazza hope there is a blue and white whirlwind at our ground cos they are our home colours........

It was one footed, he got the ball and was fair. Accidents happen in a contact sport and can be excused. Meanwhile going ino players after the tackle and using threatening behaviour can not. Take note, I lost count of the times your players insisted on reacting that way, whenever they lost a tackle,

PS - apologies to Ryan for the last comment. We all know that the "scum" play in yellow.

At least we don't have to have the word "Royal" in front of our name to convince people that our town has a touch of class.

ah gotcha there that is ROYAL Tunbridge Wells wheras we are TONbridge there is a distinct diofference as you will find if you end up at the dump known as Culverden instead of Longmead <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Well 3+2=5 in midfield, with your strikers both dropping deep as well I make that packing the midfield.

The thing that annoyed me about the Allen / No5 incident was that the ref failed to allow a clear advantage - he pulled the play back for a free kick when he could have just booked the 5 later.

Will reserve judgement on the keeper, although he was by far your best player there's still plenty of keepers we've not seen!

no disagreement there but how about the last man rule for the penalty ? your guy got off very lightly

I can tolerate direness if we can play 270 minutes and only concede one goal - from the penalty spot. Almost Borgesque tightness.

On that subject Yeading v Boretree tonight might give us a couple of clues on their relative strengths before we play 'em both in the coming weeks.
