Good to see the Cyclops this season we miss you and bro. You are very welcome anytime!

I tend to miss very gew league games. Usually for work reasons because my job sometimes takes me away from London. However, if I had not got delayed by revised timetables on the trains because of engineering work, I would probably have missed this one because I would have got to The Anchor before kick-off and you don't find many pubs selling decent beer at £1 per pint these days! My bro works shifts and can't get to anywhere near as many games as I can.

BTW, the attached photo shows just how completely Bernie bamboozled the EM defence for his goal!

As for others' comments about the ref, OK he wasn't perfect, but we will have far worse than him this season (in fact we did on the opening day). Personally, I thought the penalty decision looked fair enough from where I was standing, but we should have had one when Nyman was flattened in the area earlier in the game.

Neil I think that your match report was better than my notes.

I do think that we can learn from other clubs websites though and I for one like the Eton Manor and Clacton Town websites which have a lot of good ideas and a freshness about them.

Our website is a massive shop window on the town and you are our window dresser so to speak! If we don't use the latest technology to update the display from time to time fans either stop looking or start moaning because they would like to see something different. Be encouraged people look and notice your excellent work.

Our web site could be a massive shop window for our club but don't forget, most of the people visiting it are either our fans or others from clubs in the same league.

You will get groundhoppers checking it out as well, so the important thing is to make sure the fixture list is up to date. Our dynamically updating fixture list seems to work with various browsers -- I can't check using any of the browsers for the Mac because I don't have a Mac, but it works in all the javascript-capable browsers I have tried on PCs in Windows and Linux (with javascript enabled, of course).

Using the latest technology isn't always the best idea. You mention the Eton Manor site. Well, I know it uses VBScript because I can actually see the code as text at the top of the page. I don't know what it does, though.

What you should try to do is make sure that your site works with whatever browser the user may have, under whatever operating system he or she wants to use and to ensure, as far as possible, that it doesn't breach the Disability Discrimination Act. Hopefully this will also mean it meets the terms of the Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998 (US Federal legislation) -- not something we would have to worry about from a legal point but because we want our site accessible by as many people as possible, whether they are disabled or not.

Bells and whistles are all very well, but you have to make sure the basics are there first.

Hats off to Eton Manor who've again shown us what a nice club they are. I don't think I've ever read a more glowing report from an opposition - which is a credit to the way the Town boys played yesterday. I felt almost sorry for Manor at some stages because the quality of some of the football was unbelievable.

Let's have some more of that on Tuesday - football has a knack of coming right back at you after a performance like that!

As for Bernard's goal - I was raving about Masala's goal earlier this season but that at least equalled it. Where do these lads get the confidence from to go on runs like that? Does anyone know anything about how they, and Ely Kitenge who also scored a cracking goal yesterday, came to us?

Web Master - my point was EM produced a good match report with lots of piccies

as my English teacher once said "If we stop learning we may as well get off the bus"! norther common sense for you!

I (assistant webmaster) wan't replying to you but to Cleggy. His comment about making use of the latest technology doesn't take into account of the fact that the latest technology doesn't always work across the board. For instance, we could do some wonderful stuff using cascading style sheets but most of you would hate it because the worst offender in the "non-industry standard" stakes appears to be Microsoft and most of you are using Internet Explorer for Windows. They can't even make Internet Explorer for Windows act in the same way as Internet Explorer for Mac (and they won't do one for Linux). Just to point out that they aren't the only offenders, Netscape for Windows doesn't always act in the same way as all the other browsers known as "Gecko" browsers (they are supposed to have the same core code) even though Netscape for Linux does. I am not sure what bit of Eton Manor's site Cleggy thought was exceptional because it may have been the Visual Basic stuff which Mozilla or Opera for Linux don't do anything with (they just show the code at the top of the screen).

As for your comments about adding more photos, point taken. However, there may be times when it would just take too long to do because sometimes uploading anything to the web space takes an absolute age and nobody seems to have fathomed out why. At the moment (fingers crossed) this doesn't seem to be a problem.

In September, I will be running the site for a couple of weeks. I may experiment with a slightly different layout for the match reports just to see how popular it is. For the moment I will leave the layout of the site to Neil as I don't want to go treading on his toes and there's no point having two people pulling in separate directions.

Personally, I don't think there is much wrong with the site at the moment. OK, it could be changed and possibly people would prefer a new look, but you still have to make sure that it is accessible to all visitors (or as many as you can make it accessible to). With the advent of the Disability Discrimination Act there are legal as well as moral reasons for that.

I am absolutely staggered that any camera survived taking a picture of you two. No doubt Cyclops will correct me but I doubt whether their is software available to bring it up to accwptable levels of decency. If it was taken on an old fashioned jobby no chemist would develop it.

The reason why I am concerned about the taking of a photograph without my knowledge is that my parents were not asked for their consent! Child Protection issues here!

They are most disappointed that my good side was not photographed and will be looking for compensation. I reckon at least a couple of Cyprus £s will do!

What a great game!! All of our goals were very well worked and two of them were outstanding. Asiedu's goal (our third) was simply superb - the body swerve to leave the keeper for dead was, as they say in the Good ol' US of A, AWESOME!!

Kitenge worked extremely hard up front, played well in his role as target man and most certainly deserved his goal. And what a good goal - controlled the ball, little bit of keepy-uppy and then a deft volley over the keeper and into the roof of the net. Great stuff!!

Rudi Hall and Dean Nyman look excellent - good, skilful players who can score AND set up chances. These 2 seem to be really clicking.

Some reasons not to get carried away:

1) Eton Manor are a footballing team and tried all the way thru the match to play football - as opposed to some of the more physical teams that are in this league

2) our wing backs weren't tested defensively. Asiedu was so much better than the guy he was up against - he tackled him easily, then went forward almost at will. He won't get many easier games

3) the Manor strikers (Cove excepted - he did OK when he got the ball) were greedy in the first half. I remember at least 2 attacks in the first 30 mins or so when they had a 2 on 1 on us going forward. If they had passed the ball instead of hogging it and getting tackled, it would have been a different game

4) the Tilbury pitch was superb. Give us a good pitch and another team that wants to play football at this level (or a couple of levels higher) and we will always be in with a good chance

But a morale boosting win nevertheless.

Also the draw at Barkingside is already looking to be a decent result.

Looking forward to tomorrow night!!!

The Chelsea ladies management complimented the club on the improvement from last season with the pitch and stadium.
