Canvey Island 3-3 Tamworth

Wow! What a game to start off my Conference Season with CIFC!

 

Ok, first of all I think we let in two of their goals simply because we only played 3 at the back. When Tamworth kicked those long balls into the corners it stretched us and allowed their men to sneak in and score the firs two goals - Hopefully Dom Sterling won't be out for too long, I think a four man Defence will tighten up and we'll stop leaking some sloppy goals, like Tamworth's first two today.

 

Jon Keeling was superb today, he split apart the Tamworth defence 99% of the time and never gave up a battle. Unfortunate that he got sent-off be then again I think had the Referee been more consistant with the rules there may have been more cards today and Gregors might've walked too - No excuse for some of Tamworth's tackles though, a shoulder or elbow here.

 

I have a feeling Boylan's penalty could've been saved if that Twat of a 'Keeper hadn't been bouncing along the line, when Boylan struck the penalty the 'Keeper wasn't in the centre of the goal and Boylan hit it away from him - Stupid Keeper, he'd stood still he might've had more a chance!!

 

Taking nothing away from Tamworth today, but they're not the greatest Conference team and getting only a point from them after being 2-0 down makes us look worse than many teams. This league is gonna be hard, but I feel we could've easily taken all three points today - Especially with Duffers' effort - He did all the hardwork and put his foot on the ball, rather than kick the thing, I still can't believe he missed that effort and for Tamworth to go down the other end and equalise rubs salt into the wound.

 

I think Ty Gooden was our weak link in the Midfield today, when he replaced Minton, but I was impressed with Sedgemore. JK was a bit quiet too though.

 

I think today was a good performace, but we need to revise our formation and tactics slightly if we're gonna keep all three points from games like these - I feel four at the back is a must, otherwise teams like Hereford will rip us apart.

 

Keep it up though lads, I'm still condident we'll survive in this League!! 14th in the League now, just about right in my eye.

That was quite a good time to call ya, wasn't it Yellow...right at the moment when Boylan score the penalty! Trust you quenched your thirst in an appropriate manner tonight. Sounded like a cracking game and good atmosphere.

 

3 games and 3 draws. That's a healthy start for Connie newboys I reckon. Top 10 finish at this rate.

Ah yes, I was standing next to YA, just as the phone-call come through and Canvey were attacking. YA's talking on the phone as Gregors is brought down and the Yellow Army go wild when the penalty is awarded. Thought we played OK today. First half we look pretty dodgy but Keeling got that goal at the right time and it gave us something to build on.

We were like an express train at the start of the second half. Great finish from Lee after a quickly taken free kick from Sedgemore and if Duffers had scored it would have been game over

After Tamworth equalised they were probably the better side. How that one that hit the underside of the bar stayed out I really don't know.

Jon Keeling was very harshly sent off in my opinion. Was defintely one of the best players on the park.
