Dorchester vs. Margate

Firefly

Recommended Posts

2-o Dorchester.

Even first half-Dorchester marginally better.

"nd half Margate better.

Chances to both sides.

Defence wobbly firs half, but Edwards back to hos best in second UNTIL indecisiveness between him and Ward after long goal kick. and forward nips in to score.

"nd goal -looping header from midfield-Edwards out of postion and similar goal given away.

Still Margate had some chances.

Their goalie should have been sent off when brought Che down earlier when nearing the goal-just a free kick.

Margate actaully played quite well so do not depair.

Odd decision by CK to take JK and Benevides off after 60 and 65 mins.-just before their first goal ,and we lost midfield for a vital 15 mins. when goals scored.

Benevides anomynous in first half ,but better in second until taken off.

JK played god-thought taken off too early, as did not seem to be tiring.

Che played well ,although missed one good chance.

Everyone played ok ,so annoying to lose.

Defence wobbly in first half-even then we 'got away with' a mix up between Bil and Ward.

Edwards subbed near end-limping

Usual team-same as Carlshalton.

Player better than against Carlshalton=-probably 'too pretty'.

Post more maybe later,(although noone wants to read it when we lose)

Not sure it could have been a red, as your bloked knocked the ball so far infront of him, he would never have scored.

Didnt think you were that bad, probably about even if we're honest. Two lucky goals for us, one being a mix up in the defense.

Thought 0-0 would have been about right.

Ref was awful though, always late, and letting far to much go.

Apologies for spelling/typing errors from last but one post.

Was ok straight after game as we played ok,and two defensive lapses lost us the game.

Depressed now, as reality of a loss against an average side sinlks in.We needed to win this game.

AS i've posted before(and this is not a criticism as needs must)but we do lack quality(even conf. south quality) and present side is frankly bottom six material and a relegation fight.

May not have resources to do so, but just hope we can strengthen defence quick, and although midfield ok today, think midfield is also weak.

players there, and it wil reverberate around team and goals will start to go in.

First half marginally in Dorchesters favour. They hit post and scooped one over from 6 yards (forwards generally in this league seem poor).

Bill and Scott ward had typical mix up from which they should have scored aswell.

Rocky and Che played ok up front and were better class ,without really threatening to score. They are almost to identical in their style of play.

Apart from above [****!!****] up, defence never made any real mistakes but you never had confidence in them.

For last 15 mins of half, Margate had upper hand.Played good football.

Che's control was sublime, but unfortunately missed a decent chancefrom about 15 yards which went over. Also was excelent move between Che and Rocky where Rocky ended up with lloping shot being tipped over.If gone in, would have been goal of season for the interplay between them.

I thought Goalie should have been sent off for bringi ng CHe down just outside box.Was last man so i thought should have gone off, although Che going across goal.

Sorry ,the above para relates to start of 2nd half, when we had all the play

Apart from that REf was good as were lino's-they got most decisions right.

Sorry to single one out, but Benevides was virtually non existant in the half-knack of being everywhere the ball was'nt.

Clarke had one decent shot from free kick in first half.

2nd half, Gate started well.JK started to control midfield and Benev. came into the game.

Then after 60 mins .a tired loking Benev. was replaced by Charam.,and a few minutes later JK subbed-did not look tired or hurt,(gradley came on) and for 10 mins we lost the midfield(bad move CK).Not fault of Charam or Gradley who were ok, but we lost the momentum

Odd to take 2 midfielders off at virtualy same time i thought.

There goalie was making very long kicks, and from one of these, indecisiveness between Ward and Edwards and we concede a goal.

Come back playing well , but then similar goal given away when a long headed midfield clearance falls beyond Edwards and forward nips in to score again.Up to then, Edwards was having a good second half.

After that ,Margate continue to play god football and create a few half chances. One fell to gradley late on, when could not turn/react quick enough from about 2 yards.

Half chance to both sides in last 10 as Margate went for the goal ,and defence opened up,but we escaped without concedeing again, and they held firm.

WE are DESPERATE for a quality defender, and although it was quite good today, on heavier pitches, the midfield is too lightweight.JK will not play so well in the cold and wet.

Player scores-difficult.No-one played bad, but you would have to mark Edwards down cos of his error(s).Similar Ward ok but involved in a couple of mix ups with Bill.

No -one outstanding.Clarke consistently good, but not outstanding,CHe and Rocky both impressive but did not score,so how do you mark that.

JK ran midfield for last 15 of first half and first 15 of second.

Green good, rest of defence pretty average.

WE really needed 6 points from first 3 games ,before the tougher teams come on.

Frankly, i think we are in for a hiding against Grays and their mobile forwards.

It may just be a blessing in disguise for Grays to show up our defensive frailties, and stimulate some strenghthening in the middle of the back 3.

i have to say i thought margate were drasticlly bad today there was no effort with the exception of john keister(my man of the match before ck took him off??)as for rocky he needs to go and i know that there will be many of you who will disagree wiv me but he just is not interested at all and i even told kevin raine that for the first three games of the season he has been a lazy [***!!***],no passion,no conviction,no need to turn up if he is going to play like that as for the posting by michaelmichael i have to disagree i thought dorchester played much better than us today i enjoy reading your posts michaelmichael and generally agree with most but the gate were possitively awful today and if we continue to play like that we are in for a tough season,UTTERLY DISSAPOINTED after a long journey there they could not be bothered and for the first time since i've been watching the gate i never thought i would hear myself say that today billy edwards had a terrible game,as did oates, rocky was [***!!***],benevides did not do much clarke was not bad but far from his best, goalkeeper was crap again, che tried hard and jk was the best on the field for me.officials were also rubbish we should have had at least 2 pens for handballs in the area,moan,moan.......moan.....moan!!COME ON GATE YOU ARE BETTER THAN THIS

GET RID OF ROCKY

Agree with BF on that one, was not a good show from most of the boys today, Rocky was lackluster to say the least & could have passed to Che for a better chance of a goal but tried with the ball again which resulted in -ALL. Clarke had an o.k game but chances went beggin....AGAIN. As for CK taking Keister off in the second half I do not know what the thinking was as he was the only 1 holding the midfield together & when he left it really hit the fan for us.

Once again our keeper had a "Mare", can't make up his mind when to come for the ball then runs away from the goal-mouth when they shoot, needs sorting out ASAP.

After 90minutes it was 3pts lost thru sloppy play but all I can say is I would have taken Rocky off for Pulman instead of taking Keister off, & Che played out of his skin again but to no avail. To Both I say & I hope we turn this around soon or we is PROPER -ED!!!

MARGATE TILL THE END!!!

Rocky, Get ya hair cut...& go on holiday!!

As i posted, don't thnk overall we were that bad, and certainly better than against Carlshalton, but think we all agree that Green is playing much better than anyone else in defence ,(not hard as Edwards ,Annon are playing distinctly average-Barnett ok, but does not shine/dominate)including Greg(definately lost yard of pace and in no mans land between defence and midfield too much-he is missing his 'partnership' with Jay i think where they used to cover each other on that flank).

We have a two man midfield in Clarke and JK(how long can JK keep up his refound level of form).

imo Che and Rocky both playing quite well, but they are not mega goalpoachers. They will nick a few quality goals so we rely on defence keeping ball out whih wil not happen with current defence.

Pulman not the answer.

Did not see Bognor game, but against Carlshalton and Dorchester, Ward not really had a shot to save.In main his distribution is good (one bad throw out yesterday),but in every game has been at least 2-3 mix-ups on back passes with defence which has led to 2 goals at least. He is a shot stopper, but ironicaly not had any shots to really stop in those two games.I think 'the jury is still out here'.If the defensive errors are cut out, he could yet be a good choice.

We need 1/2 quality defenders-one tall and one quick and a quality midfield player. That would give Che and Rocky confidence aswell.
