As a boy I went to see Slough Town with my Grandfather and Father and win lose or draw, I can say we enjoyed seeing a game of football. As I got older I wanted to see the " big boys" and trotted off each week to watch Spurs. A small fortune was paid to travel to see those highly paid prima donnas and I quickly realised that I was the mug hoping to enjoy a game only to be let down time and again if players weren't in the mod to perform. So for the past six years I have followed Slough Town again, both home and away.

But no longer. Once again money has taken over and we stand in all weathers hoping for a result that the players couldn't give a toss about.

I will always follow a team if they are prepared to give me what I want, commitment and passion. I don't care what league they are in, although success is always a bonus, as long as I can see a good game of football.

No more will I throw my money at a consortium hell bent on creaming it off, whilst having no thought for the fans. I am off to my local park to watch real football!!!!

I think a lot of perople feel the same way !
After taking some friends, 3 kids and hubby to yesterdays dreadful performance I can no longer justify spending the money each week travelling to away games. It is a shame but the club is going from bad to worse.
We will continue going to home games and the boys will continue being ball boys but the supporters are yet again being kept in the dark.
If you want real entertainment you are most welcome to come and watch Slough Juniors games any Sunday. You will be guaranteed real determination, passion and committment. Oyr U13's have just won their league with the U9's and U10's finishing mid table. They may not win all their games but they battle and give 100%.
I'm away for the next 3 weeks. Let's clutch at straws and hope we can progress in the B&B Cup. With Maidenhead and Chesham both having a bad run you never know we could finish the season on a high !!!
Give the team a cheer for me while away!
Alyson

All so true....what you say...but we can't all think that way we can not let Slough Die...so easy to just go away.....while others will try to do something about it....
don't get me wrong ....your right....
but you can not be a true supporter to allow this to happen.....
STSA will need everyone to help it pick up the pices again....and that includes you !

Ted,
I've an announcement from the club to put on the site (I'm just waiting for Chris to do the report....) along with pictures and a report from the supporters game yesterday.
But your points are all totally valid (as usual - but especially the one about that lovely Gary bloke!) and should be heeded by the club.

Chris you say "While others will try to do something about it". I think many people feel helpless, and feel there is nothing they can do about it.
If there were something concrete and agreed that people could do, I think there would be support. But there isn't. As supporters we are neither informed nor involved. The local papers are distancing themselves from the club (On the Burnham site, the Observer sports forum posts about reserve matches--when was the last time they posted on the Slough one?), the players arn't paid and won't perform (some might point out they will, eventually, collect full wages), its two and a half years since the "Announcement in 2 weeks fiasco". There may be fines from the Ryman League, and the FA. Could be points deductions for playing inelligable players (Express Thursday). What can we do?
One group of supporters is not easily fooled-children. They know when a team arn't trying. Try and explain to kids why the team arn't trying--they don't understand, and are not tied by years of loyalty. They expect to see commitment and passion on the pitch--and they are right.
I commend Gary and his sponsored walk--that is something that anyone can easily support, but what else can we do? I know you work hard behind the scenes Chris, and I'm not knocking you, but it is the feeling of helplessness that really gets to me. I can see whats happening, and there is nothing I can do about it.
