Dublin City manager Roddy Collins has secured the services of West Ham United's Shaun Byrne and former Northern Ireland international Keith Rowlands.

The players flew in to Dublin yesterday morning to complete the necessary paperwork and meet up with their new team mates at the club's training headquarters at ALSAA.

The pair become the latest additions to Collins makeover at the club and go straight into the squad for tonight's clash with Cork City in Turner's Cross.

Rowlands, 33, won 18 caps with Northern Ireland and with business interests across channel will continue to train with Dagenham and Redbridge and fly over for games. Born in Portadown, he had spells at West Ham, Bournemouth and QPR and also was on the books of Hornchurch.

"Keith is an exceptional pro and is a classy performer. He brings bags of experience to Dublin City and like Shaun I'm delighted to have him commit to the club," said Collins.

Met Rowlands a couple of times on nights out at the week-end when he was with us, most notably about 10 years ago in the Epping Forest Country Club when he used to hang out with Mike Marsh, David Burrows and Jerome Boere, very nice bloke.

He was a good pro for West Ham but was unlucky in the fact he was understudy to Julian Dicks, so he probably didn't play for us as many times as he could have.

He certainly did Bigchin.

I'd been to Canvey Island that day to watch West Ham in a pre season friendly, unfortunately it was mainly youths and reserves playing for us, Boerre played that day and when I saw him in the club, I went upto him and joked about a "Miss" he'd had in the match, he gave me a playful slap on the cheek but it was quite hard.

I had the last laugh though, cos few years later, he lost an eye <img src="/images/graemlins/robber.gif" alt="" />
