The Last Two Games

okay guys....I've had a chance to reflect on the two games thus far and also take note of your varied opinions....

quite obviously....like me...you are all disappointed about the result last night and indeed the one solitary point from six...

we all are I'm sure...

I said however last night that we had played quite well and received no takers at all....in fact Magsy looked like punching me but scrapered before he gave into such temptation....

fact is I'm sticking to my views...

I do think that we looked good and strong last night as we did on saturday...I think that we possibly have the strongest and most talented squad in the division and I still believe that we will win this championship....

this team is a country mile above last years in terms of experience and ability...that is already apparent to me regardless of the results...

okay..we aint scored a goal and in the two games we haven't looked like doing so...but once one goes in those floodgates will open believe you me...

the comments about GH and his team are understandable and I accept your views...but to start questioning the manager and the team after two games is beyond my comprehension....

I believe in this team...I believe in GH and I believe that we have got it right......very much so....only time will tell of course...

we have no god given right to expect teams to lay down for us...indeed the opposite will apply ...everyone wants to beat us....

I'll let Colin McBride the Thruck boss have the last word...he won't mind me quoting him...a much respected and successful manager and a nice guy to boot....

''you'll win the league this year, that's for sure''

Dear UU. Now i`ve have had time to reflect & read the comments made about last nights game i feel it`s time for me to have a few words.

With regards to my little outburst last night, please accept my apologies.

I was just a bit miffed by your comment that you thought we had played quite well,as i do believe were the rest of us standing with you.

I for one & i think most Chins would agree, the squad that the two Gary`s have assembled with your backing is of the highest quality.

UU.... as for me wanting to punch you last night...I THINK NOT....i`ve got to much respect for you & for what you have done for the club(what a crawler, think i`m gonna be sick).... I`m a lover not a fighter, just ask the Nettes. As for giving into temptation, only the Nettes would be able to lead me that way.

I am no Sir Bobby Robson or ARSEne W****r or Gary Hill for that matter & am in no postion to question there team selections because they have their reasons for doing so that is why i`m not going to go into a rant about the starting line up,substitutions or subs on the becnch for last nights game. They were GH`s choice`s & i`m sure the decisions he made were in his mind the right one`s for the benifit of HFC..

We as fottball fans, whether at Prem or Conf South level, OH! sorry WHU fans (Championship level as well)what a joke, will always criticize there judgement because we all think we know best. Thats why we love this game so much, it unearth`s the passion inside us. Somtimes we are unable to control that passion and say things as we see it and after calming down realise that maybe it was a little unjust. Hence my rant last night.

Now that most of us have had our say on last nights indifferent performance, i`m sure from UU, GC,GH & all the players that are selected for sat game, we as the fans get behind the team & give them our backing & full support. We all know this squad has the ability to win this league & i feel all that is missing from the players is some confidence. They will not get that if we the fans are getting on their backs after two games......& before anyone comes back & has a go at me, YES i was just as bad as lots of other Chins having a go at some very indifferent individul performance`s on the pitch.

I`m not going to dig out any good or bad individuals as i`m sure they know who they are themseleves. This is a team game& i`m sure GH knows what he is doing. Even tho we might not

AS UU says "ONWARDS & UPWARDS"

we're all in this together and I know that...you guys are superb....

you have obviously read my post which again....like yourself...was written after reflection....like you guys I was gutted as well but still remain convinced..(and you lot above anyone know how pragmatic I really am behind the UU facade) that we will win this championship......

this is a quality squad we have here....as the season progresses we shall all see that...

great post and yes....we all share the passion...

I really think that if the performance last night had taken place halfway through the season hardly anything would have been said. It would have been seen as one of those games that happens every now and again.

I think the fact that it was the 1st home game of the season was why everyone may have seemed up in arms. Sometimes us footy fans get a bit carried away and expect to see new players gel instantly and expect to see exciting wins on day one. The excitment of a new season with quality new players went to some peoples heads.

After a couple of wins, all will be forgotten and it will be smiles all over again!

Good point Big Chin perhaps our expectancy levels were too high but after all the purchases and hype perhaps that was expected.

Positives...we wiped the floor with what were a good side (last season)and they deserve credit for their tactics and resilience.

McCarthy, and a number of individuals looked outstanding individually but didn't seem to link up well. Wormull's first touch, skill and crossing (on occasions)was awesome.

We do really need to get off the mark with a win on Saturday (so here's hoping).

P.S. Didn't like the booing last night at the end perhaps we should have clapped Thurrock for their efforts instead.

didn't hear any booing but we shouldn't do that....

lets not surrender our uniqueness to the alter of 'win at all costs' non league football....

fck everyone else and what they think...we are a new resurrected club and we are eccentric and we have fun....lets keep it that way and we'll get there....

we all wanted and painted this picture of the promised land of the (now) coca coal 2nd and we'll get there....

seen the kids in the new shirts in the Hx pubs and clubs lately.....?

brilliant.....

As Bon Jovi sang 'keep the faith'. It will come. You have a tough game Saturday as Havant are a decent up and coming side and have a decent squad so it won't be easy. You also have Weymouth on BHM so you need to get a bit of form behind you but it won't happen over night. Canvey proved that much but it's early days yet and plenty of time for things to be put right.

I think for what it's worth is that this team isn't 'ours' yet. It's the manager's.

It was like watching a bunch of strangers last night. John Martin, Scott & Adam Locke were marking me - a spectator.

Frankly, to have the first home game of the new season that didn't feature one single player from the last home game of last season, & that change is done through choice, is a bit more than wholesale changes.

I seem to remember that last season, Garry Hill took 'our team' to 4 wins out of 5, when we weren't fighting down to the wire for the championship, & although we have gone up a division it looks like none of those players will be regulars this season, considering as we, players & supporters, voted John Martin best player last year, & now he's not even on the bench...

They will become 'our' team in due course, but at the moment I don't think they are. Bit like my old Wolves Subbuteo team - look flash but I couldn't tell you their names.

you are entitled to your views but please lets have sensible views and not spiteful ones...

if you wanna slag players of you are at the wrong club....

we don't do it.....

and never will...

Uncle Urchin Im not slagging the players off mate, but we all expected more from them on Tuesday..perhaps disappointment, but we all expect 100% from these players every game..

Hi Unc, obviously your lads and support were upset and that follows the high spend high maintenance of a genuinly ambitious club, but, surely the Thurrock lads must have got something right

Defending 10 V 11 and an 11 of the best available must take considerable skill and effort

Being almost a 100% new squad you must consider giving them several (not 2) games before they can be seen as a team

nice to see you back you old rascal...

well as you have probably read..I think we have played well in the two games so far....

just haven't found the net

as for thurrock...they are always a handful and defended heroically the other night....that said we could have scored 6...10 man thurrock teams are always going to be difficult to get at.....Bridies a specialist at it...

mind you...they could have had another 2 on the break as we were stranded in their area....

no complaints...just disappointed thats all...
