Initial City Link Parcels

Well, on returning from work yesterday afternoon, I discovered a card on the floor which said Initial had tried to deliver a parcel for me, but had taken it back to their Hemel depot as no-one was at home.

 

So... I rang them this morning to try and arrange for re-delivery.

 

They said they were unable to do that unless the sender of the parcel agreed to pay the extra costs.

 

I asked who the sender was, and they couldn't tell me.

 

Now, odds are, this is something I've ordered off the internet, so it could be one of about three or four different things.

 

Anyway, I now have four days to pick up my parcel from Hemel before it's returned to sender.

 

I don't drive, and the depot shuts at 6pm daily, which means I can't get a bus after work, and can't really get someone to drive me after work as all my driving mates generally work in London.

 

So I stand fk all chance really, don't I?

They should arrange a re-delivery date with you at no extra cost. That's what most other couriers I've dealt with do.

Where abouts in Hemel is it? Is it at the insustrial estate? It would proably have to be after works as we woulnd't do it in an hour would we?

Gertcha, I tried - they weren't having it.

 

Apparently they tried to deliver twice - once on Monday, and again yesterday. Doesn't occur to them that most of us actually work a 5-day week.

 

I offered to pay them so that they would deliver to me at work tomorrow, but they said they couldn't do that. Only the sender can pay the extra.

Claire - it's Swallow Park Industrial. No idea which side of Hemel it is. I don't know Hemel at all.

Oh, I suppose if they've tried twice then they can ask for extra. Bloody stupid though to try again the next day if they haven't heard from you. It amazes me the number of companies that don't take into account the fact that a lot of people work during the day.

 

Off topic, but look at the time Channel 4 put the cricket highlights on. Half past midnight or later, not ideal if you are up early for work the next morning.

The thing that really is ridiculous about this firm is that you only have four days to go and collect your parcel, yet the depot is only open during office hours.

Can you not contact all the sellers that you are expecting stuff from and find out who sent it? Then they can contact the interlink and get it changed?

can you not get the parcels to go to your work instead of your home when you buy them?

You can do, I've done it before with no problems.

However, I tried to get something deliverd to my work address last week and was told I needed to send them a letter on headed paper signed by my boss proving I worked there. I told them to [***!!***] Off.

But I didn't know this particular parcel would cause me so much aggro, did I?

 

In several years of ordering stuff off the net, I've never come across a company so unwilling to help.

Well phone them up and ask to speak to the boss or someone on high authority and threaten to inform them trade people that they are holding an item of yours and wont let you have it.
