A few positive things from last night

1) attendance of 791 - excellent for thurrock on a wet tuesday night.

2) The A-Team theme tune - just fantastic.

3) Minutes silence - immaculately observed.

4) 5 balls left the ground (including one in the tree)

5) erm, that's it.

LOL, good attendence yes, especially so considering the Thurrock fans travelled there in one taxi!

As for positives, couldn't see any myself. I know what people say about a team needing to grow together over the first few games, but from the majority of players there was little effort and no passion and that worries me. Our crossing by and large was appalling and our strikers didn't look up to it. Yes, they got a lucky result and the least we should have got, even with that lame performance was a draw, but Hill needs to have a word with them and sort it out for Saturday. They are professional players earning a good wage and their employers and the clubs fans deserve much, much better than the pile of sh*t they served up last night!!!

My team for Saturday:

1.Bayes

2.Gooding

3.Kerrigan

4.Adedeji

5.Matthews

6.Wormull

7.Elam

8.Martin

9.Brayley

10.Taylor

11.Keeling

This is the sort of team we need anyway. The nucleus from last season with a few new faces for added quality.

I think it's about time the fans heard from Gary Hill. I think it's about time he told us his expectation for the season and what he thinks he can attain this season?

Last night was a total disaster, and to see Gary Hill having a good old laugh with the chairman in the bar after the game didn't exactly show to me that he gave a stuff about OUR team!

Although, I'm happy that 5 balls left the ground as I'm already 3 quid up for the season!!

Surely Hill's expectation, as indeed is the club and fans expectation, to win this league and do that comfortably. With the money that is being spent on players and not to mention on Hill's wages as well, that is something we should easily achieve. I suppose though, the same could have been said for the past two seasons, when money hasn't brought about success, as in winning the leagues!

As for Hill's position, I think it’s far to early to jump to conclusions, we are only two games into the season! I just hope Saturday's performance is a lot better than yesterday's and gives us something positive to talk about!

Gents I know you are all very passionate about our football club, I feel just the same way, I know this football club as well as some and better than most.

I have watched non league football at all levels over the last two years from Essex Senior League right up to watching Conference football last year and I have not seen a better team than this one we have right now.

Lets get one thing straight here, some of the people questioning Garry Hills ability to do the job after two games is an absolute joke, we have 1 more point this year than we had this time last year, but onto the point I want to make, I cannot believe you guys cannot see any positives from last nights game or this years squad which is by far better than last years.

We have 2 quality keepers this year last year we had one. We have 2 right backs now who are good and 1 of them is a member of last years squad. We have 4 quality centre halves, Matthews and Westy are still here from last year, the new skipper is outstanding and Jamie Stuart is a great competitor too. Damon Searle will prove to be the best left back in this league. Midfield is blessed with talent in the centre and out wide and once they click it will be special to watch. Up front once the ball starts hitting the back of the net and we start getting a bit of luck the goals will fly in trust me.

Onto last night we totally dominated the match and had quite a few chances and Thurrock had 3 attacks in the whole match. Ashley Bayes did not make one save in the whole match. We passed the ball fantastically well, unfortunately we just tended to overplay at times, Wormull hit some great crosses as did Elam when he came on, we just never got on the end of them, that will come, we worked very very hard and looked very fit, there goalkeeper made some outstanding saves and if he had an ordinary night and not made 3 or 4 class saves and all that shots would have gone in everybody would be talking about how far we will win this league by this morning, have faith you urchins it will come good, great support last night, turn up saturday and there will be 3 points waiting for you.

Total rubbish.....

Gary Hill was as gutted as anyone believe me. He had a smile on his face, so what so did I and so did the players. They know the score as does GH. Some how i think we might see a different team come Saturday. Not player wise, but the way we play!!!!

Lord mate,I think your way too harsh on the team last night, Rome wasn't built in a day and to start kncoking this new team before they've even had a run of games is a bit niave in my opinion.

I know Thurrock were down to ten men but history proves that you don't necessarily beat teams because of this.

We had plenty of chances last night to equalize and although it wasn't the most entertaining performance, they must be given a chance.

I'm very confident the manager will give us a brilliant team, after all, he comes here with a fantastic record.

My "scouts" gave a similar report...that the new team has bundles of potential, and just need time to knit as a team. Last season, it took about 5 games before we began looking good.

As for "individuals", one player came in for a bit of harsh criticism, whilst glowing reports were cast on several others...especially the sub [Purser?].

I think we all know the expectations from the team this season, and we don't need GH to tell us that at this stage...although a GH section in the programme wil be a nice regular addition as the season gets going.

btw...can someone change the mistake in the Players' Sponsership section. Last season's Player of the Year was and is John Martin...not Jason!

Nige, I'm no turn coat, turning on the team or manager after one game, I'm merely reflecting on a disappointing performance, as have several other Urchin fans. Everything is still very much on the up and it will only take a good result against H&W on Saturday to turn the tide and get everyone's confidence up. Unlike my other team West Ham, we do have a team of very good players, a top class manager and a board that is taking this club forward.

Glad you still feel positive Lord cos one game does not maketh a season my friend.

This is a new team, a new manager, no need to batter them after one home match.

Don't want Chins fans getting a reputation of being like spud or chelsea fans, always moaning.

I still find hard to believe that this team need more time 'to knit'. They are full time for pete's sake!

Day in, day out these players train with each other. You would have thought they would have developed an understanding?

Time isn't a luxury we have if we want to win this league.

You'd have thought so wouldn't you Raver. I mean, how long was pre-season training??!! All will be forgotten if we win on Saturday. We are the only team in this league with the squad and class to sustain a decent run over the entire season.

Raver mate, I'm glad you don't go over West Ham no more because quite frankly your attitude is ridiculous!

Stop panicking after 2 games!

There's 40 odd games left and if we (HX) win 3 nil on Saturday, you'll be on here "Raving", get it, about how we're gonna storm the league!

Ridiculous? How do you figure? West Ham make me panick and quite rightly so. Dailly holding the back four together would make any fan a nervous wreck.

However, I'm not panicking over last night. I'm just telling it how it is. That was a dissapointing performance was it not?

Your right, I will be 'Raving' if we win 3 - 0 on Saturday but yesterday didn't suggest that it will happen. Lets hope they prove me wrong.

Ps. West Hams board love your type of fan.

Sorry Raver...I'm taking the word of those who have played at Pro and Semi-Pro level.

There's nothing like proper competition to sort a team out. Friendlies are really only good for getting fitness levels up and practising set-piece plays, imho.

Give 'em at least 4-5 matches to get in their stride, and if they dont meet our high expectations, then we'll slag 'em off!
