Janik adopts logo

Looks like Cllr. Janik wants to use SLOUGH TOWN FC's "Serve with Honour" logo - the one the council dropped in favour of "Modern government in the 21st century" (see page 3 of the Express 12-08-04)

Is this a sign of Cllr Janik comming round to the idear that the town should embrace the football club who have always maintained its Serve with honour position as he can now see the redevelopment of Britwell slipping away.

The only people who seem to be serving with honour at the momment are Slough Town FC as they are trying to maintain the heritage of the town through the club - unlike the councillors who only wish to score political points at the clubs expense.

Glad to see Cllr. Janik representing his constituants over the realy important issues of logos and coats of arms which the council has lots of money to waist on changing, when in Britwell such areas as housing, childcare, and recreation facilities are crying out for funds.

It is the Slough crest, not the Slough Town FC crest - but we happily wear it with pride on our shirts. Don't think for one minute that Mr Janik is interested in restoring the coat of arms, he just wants to reverse a decision made under Labour.

At the end of the day Cllr Janik wants the Britwell redeveloped to improve the environment "his" electorate live in and therefore ensure he gets re-elected.

The caution I would pose to Cllr Janik is that if he wants this redevelopment to happen and the council to fund it he may end up with something worse that a football ground!

With the Government looking at legalising brothels would he like the council to build one on Kennedy park?

Or as some of the land belongs to Slough Estates they could end up building a commercial development on their part of what is currently available to the residents of Britwell and would lose completely their access to the "Tele Tubbies" area.

I belive that Cllr. Janik and the football club actualy want very similar things for Slough - its just how we get there.

You may well be right Mr Staines, but as the club and the council now seem to be going in different directions I'm not sure of the need to even bring up Kennedy Park now. That proposal has gone, it is out of the window and it seems very unlikely that Martyn Deaner and Slough Borough Council will be working together in the near future.

The only council related matter of interest is what is being reported in the Express - that Cllr Stokes apparently want to meet with the mystery consortium. Given that he and the council were not prepared to underwrite any money for the football club and said it was not able to run the football club, why would he want to listen to this random group with their suggestion for the council to reclaim power of the football club? Very odd.

Anyway, I'd rather talk about football than give another thought to the council. They've made it perfectly clear where they stand. Now we've got to move forward without their input.

Agreed. We made our points to the council and they were ignored or misunderstood. We cannot wait around for them to realise they have made an error of judgement.

Although you are right Staines Rebel the regeneration will not happen without some source of funding - which initially would have been football. Now it will either not happen or they will get something even less wanted. But they made their bed....
