Happiness

The happiness and pride i felt at Ashford yesterday, seeing a team in the blue and white running out onto the park after the close season the club as endured, was'nt diminished in the least by the final result. I for one thoroughly enjoyed the game. Yes 3-2 was'nt a fair reflection of the chances the gate created. For those who could'nt attend will have to take it from me,the officals if yesterdays are any thing to go by are poorer than the conference. Lessons learned, Keeper, ? defence looked flat footed at times, need to pick up better. midfield JC played his heart out,Alexis played every body off the park when he came on. Rocky was usual self loping about just needed more luck and could have had a 3 or 4,Che needs to move into space more stood about to much for my liking. All in all the team lacked the fitness and with the odd exception the work rate to win at this level. I would like to thank the Bognor manager for is entertaining coaching lessons,He was quiet until about 20 mins, after that the effect he had on his young side was dramatic, they became a unit. When his time comes i hope he leaves his voice to science. As for the Gaaaaaaaaate as CK said the match fitness will come with the games. Hopefully the search for new quality faces will continue. Come on the GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE, Onwards and Upwards. Roll on monday night.

The lack of pre season preparation showed, maybe.

I think these few quick games in succession will get things going.

BB was right in his pride yesterday, it was a joyous occasion for me too.

But look how far we have come in a short time. I heard CK on the radio yesterday saying that if the decision had gone against us on that Thursday they were ready to chuck their kit in a bag and walk away at half time. Jeez, then where would we have been?

I think we can only celebrate what we have, and look forward to what we know we can achieve.

Again you are right, but we need to retain our conf. south status, and as you say, the early games come thick and fast, and we need points in the bag, or 20% of season will be gone by mid-sept. and we will be floundering and on the back foot.

Fast start and not throwing away early season points is vital.
