i think that more respect from MFC to the supporters would be a good start.

I think we may be returning to the days of lack of information.

i have no problem with MFC keeping ground issues private, but they really should be more forthcoming on team matters and expectations.

There is no encouragement to get Ashford people to the matches.

Our games are not mentioned on their website.

If crowd exceeds 400 (by ashford assisting MFC with the marketing, then Ashford should get 25% of the increase in gate receipts.

Frankly, we need someone to take club by scruff of neck and run it like a business-for that reason, i read with interest the comments about JP who minimally has some business acumen.

Allow KP to continue with his sterling work progressing the ground

It was JP who had the genius idea of taking out adverts for MFC games in Dover's local paper. That was money well spent! Do we really want him back? He walked out on us once and could do so again.

My feeling is that better marketing could make a difference.

If you look at the four P's, in terms of marketing theory:

Product, Price, Placing, Promotion.

Have we got the right product? Certainly we would think so as it is our team, but with no offence to Ashford, it is the best level of football available in the immediate area. Certainly the matches are great entertainment.

Is the price competitive? £8 is pretty good value for three hours or so of entertainment and certainly much cheaper than some theatres, theme parks etc. and on a par with other attractions.

Placing is difficult as we have no choice at the moment in where we can play the team. However, Ashford as a venue is very well placed in terms of population available to appeal to, with good road and rail links to many surrounding centres of population. Canterbury for example is a fairly big place without a football team of its own, could we attract some people from there?

So - now to promotion. Seems to consist of the local papers at the moment, and radio Kent sports reports. This is where we could make a big difference. I am not talking about spending mega bucks on advertising but there must be some low cost options available to spread the word about fixtures.

On the subject of marketing can someone answer a question for me. I was unable to get to the match on Sat as I was on my way back from holiday and due to pile up on the M3 did not get back in time. I sent an E mail to the club regarding kit sponsorship i.e socks shorts boots etc. Have they put anything in the programme about it?

I don't know why they haven't done it. £100 is a bit much for some people, but £5.00 for socks or £15.00 for shorts would mean that I for one would pay out for the club. At aldershot they even sponsored the tie ups for £3.00 so kids could sponsor them. This would not even cost the club any money to do, apart from space in the programme.
